The best thing to assist in keeping you on the road when you're hydroplaning is to slow down.
You could have 10 wheel drive and it will do nothing to help stay on the road if you aren't actually in contact with the road.

for 99% of rain 4WD isn't neccessary. However, in heavy rain where it feels like the Jeep is pushing thru water (I can't think of a better way to describe it) 4WD definetly helps.

Maybe just avoid sharp turns if possible?
Of course. But if you're taking sharp turns, you're probably driving slow enough (like turning into a parking lot or onto another street from the one you're on) that you don't need 4hi at that time. And if you're doing that, you have enough time to take it out of 4hi, put it in 2hi, and continue on.

I will say that I've never put my Jeep in 4Lo, though. Well, not yet at least.

At least verify that it all works before your warranty expires.
Because you're the guy that saved me thousands on my Jeep, I shall follow your guidance once again!

You've got a hammer and you're looking for a nail.

Don't use 4wd on pavement. Wet or dry.
This is why I'd LOVE a trutac rear or auto locker instead of bs open rear diff. I hate having to lock the rear or going 4wd in the least conditions.
