Strangely enough, started the Jeep up at lunch and everything was back to normal. Guess we'll see if it happens again and go from there...

This just happened to me today. It worked when I parked. 10 minutes later, no sound. I tried changing sources between FM, XM, and media (USB). None of those worked until I hit the AM source. Then it all worked. Strange.

After you parked , did you turn off the engine ? Then when you turn on the engine again , it might reboot .

I did turn it off multiple times. Also turned the radio off and on a few times.

The only thing that worked was hitting the AM source.

Thanks guys. I changed source a bunch of times from Sirius to fm but when I went to am it worked. Who knows at least it worked.
This same exact thing happened to me today! I switched to every single source however when I hit AM all the sound started working again!! Thanks for that as that’s literally the only source I didn’t hit!

I just had the same thing happen to mine. Only 3900 miles and it already has a problem.

This started happening to me after the OTA update (I have the 8.4" Alpine). It's happened twice since then. Rebooting via my Tazer fixes it, but I opened a case via Jeep Cares just to have a record. UConnect support contacted me and suggested trying the steps below, next (I didn't and won't tell them I have a Tazer, which facilitates an easier reboot.)

Anyway, here's their official reply for you guys:

Hello Mr. OldGuy,

To my immediate knowledge, I am not sure if there is another easier way to work around your issues.

There are a few troubleshooting steps that we may be able to try:

1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN)
2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons, at the same time, for thirty seconds.
3) Let go of the buttons
4) Turn vehicle off
5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds (or until dash illumination goes black)
6) Close door
7) Restart vehicle
8) Let the radio load up and see if concern is still present

We can also perform a hard reset:
1) Press and hold the driver's side hot and cold buttons.
2) If a menu appears on screen, choose option "Restore To Factory Defaults"
3) Confirm choice.
4) Let the radio load up and see if concern is still present.

Those would be the most user-friendly options that I would advise you to attempt.
Nicolas
FWIW, there's no way I'm doing a factory reset... too many damn settings I'd have to remember to redo.

I had the same issue earlier today --- no sound from my radio. I changed sources from XM to FM to Blutooth.... nothing. I turned the jeep and radio on and off multiple times.... nothing. I came home and started searching forums and so I tried switching to AM radio and sound automatically started playing. I switched to the other sources and had sound. This isn't my first issue with my 2018 JL Rubicon and I somehow doubt it will be my last. Either way I'm glad this issue is resolved for now.

When ever I have no sound on my stereo if I hit the AM source button it fixes everything. It’s a shame they built such a nice Jeep but riddled with little annoying problems as this.

I have found that this happens when I get in start my car and put it in reverse too fast. It never happens when I let all the electronics boot up for 5 seconds. I’ve found this to be the reason every time

Well, shiiiiit. Pressing AM fixes it? I’ve been doing a full reboot via my Tazer. I’ll definitely try this workaround next time. Thanks!

had this problem just now when I ran out quick. Drove 600+ miles on Monday and Tuesday without issues and then no audio. I tried BT, XM, FM to no avail but never tried AM as mentioned here. I'll try it again in a little bit and if still quiet will try the AM button. Thanks, love this forum!

Mine worked fine next time I started it up; will try the AM "fix" if it does it again.
