So, I've had plenty of vehicles in my lifetime, but never factory ordered and had some questions

1. I really prefer the 2.0t but I realize it's unavailable for order. Going back through threads, seems it's a common on again, off again theme. Is there any realistic chance it will become available before the books close on 2024?

2. Again, I've searched and maybe I missed it. Any idea when 2024 orders cease and/or 2025 becomes available?

3. Seems like some decent, and renewing, manufacturer rebates on the current model. I get that these are heavily market driven, but is there a pattern or time of year that incentives tend to be better, worse, or non existent?

4. When the 2025 MY year opens for ordering, when would be the earliest we would expect to see any manufacturer incentives?

5. And lastly...Anvil Gray is by far my first choice. Realizing that nobody can say with certainty, but regarding Anvil, is it likely to be a one year color or decent odds to carry over to '25?

I greatly appreciate any insights.

Thanks

Only the Jeep overlords know those details. You're rolling the dice by waiting or not waiting.

The only significant change that we're aware of in 2025 is some form of update to the 4xe.

Thanks Ratbert. I didn't expect there to be any definitive answers, but thought I'd ask anyways. And keep up the great work on your dealer spreadsheet, it's been incredibly helpful in my quest to get back into the Jeep crew. You got a beer on me 🍻

^ This. No one outside of Jeep will know these things; until it's "too late" for them to matter. I would add to what Ratbert noted; there is also a decent amount of rumors that MY '25 will have some engine changes as well beyond just the expected 4xe update. There are some legitimate things that would support this as well; but again no one out side of Jeep's decision makers and engineers are going to actually know and we're all just working from imperfect data.

The rumors for the ICE engine change is the switch to the Hurricane T6 twin turbo I6 at the top-end to replace the 392 V8. The Hurricane T6 is produced in both HO (High Output) and SO (Standard Output) variants. The HO version has 26psi of boost from its turbos and the SO version has 22psi of boost. Lastly, they also are making an Inline 4 cylinder turbo (single) version of the Hurricane engine (I'm not aware if its available in anything yet). This is part of what is expected for the 4xe upgrade along with a larger battery pack and support for higher voltage charging.

  • Discontinuation of the 392
  • The new Ram 1500s have the twin turbo Hurricane I6 SO in the MY '25
Personally at this point, I'd be waiting for the MY '25 order books to open; saying this as someone who just took delivery of a '24 at the beginning of May. IMO with the limitations on may of the options currently its worth the gamble to see what will actually roll out with the '25s.

EDIT: My personal opinion is they will do something similar to the following for the '25 changes

  • Hurricane I4 Turbo (standard)
  • Hurricane I4 Turbo PHEV generator variant for 4xe upgrade
  • Hurricane T6 Twin Turbo I6 SO (400hp / 450 lb-ft), Standard on Rubicon/Rubicon X equivalent; option on Sahara/High Altitude equivalents
  • Hurricane T6 Twin Turbo I6 HO (500hp / 475 lb-ft), for Rubicon 392 replacement
And possibly a "higher-end" version of the 4xe counterpart to the top-end ICE replacement for the Rubicon 392; with a Hurricane T6 Twin Turbo I6 SO PHEV generator variant and larger battery pack

Thanks for summarizing some of the potential updates from around the rumor mill. I also appreciate your perspective regarding waiting for '25, especially given you're a proud new owner. Not to beat a dead horse, but these damn Jeeps have gotten so expensive, I'm dependent on the double digit under invoice dealer's list, plus rebates just to get into a new one. My last Jeep was a year old (at the time) '06 LJ Rubi that I paid $18k for. Times have changed.

So, you're thinking the current 2.0 will continue as and that the 3.6 is dropped in favor of the T6 SO?
I like the idea of a TT I6 motor, but I sure hope it's available with the Willys package if that's the case.

Amen. Although, "but these damn Jeeps everything have gotten so expensive"... Pricing is the only other wild card that is the bigger (actual) gamble at this point. Hopefully with the downward pressures on the car market as a whole we will see at least similar pricing for the '25s. Average time on lot has been increasing and its been getting even worse for the used market. But Stellantis could very well just Stellantis some more and think it's a great idea to increase prices in this current market 🤣

The 2.0L is the ICE portion of the 4xe, so it's unlikely they'll retire it anytime soon. Obviously no one knows for sure, but it's likely that it's unavailable to order because all of the inventory was shifted to 4xe builds.

I have the 2.0L in my Sahara and have been really pleased.

If you *definitely* want the 2.0L, I would actually suggest moving forward with the process, and simply telling your chosen dealer that you're waiting for the 2.0L to become available, and that they should call you once it is so you can finalize the order. May be the 24, may be the 25, but outside of the 4xe, there's not much changes expected between the two years anyways.

I don't think that Anvil is a limited-time offer, so it's probable that it'll stick around (IMO)

True, everything is certainly more expensive. But going from an 83 CJ7 to a 97 TJ, to 06 LJ Rubi, the thought of a $58k Wrangler makes me die a little inside

I keep talking myself into and out of the 2.0. I've driven 2 of them and just love the power delivery. I can build a Jeep today exactly the way I want it, but only with the 3.6. I've read all the doom and gloom on the 2.0, oil leaks, disappearing coolant, "it's too small to push around a big vehicle", and the "no way it lasts 100k miles" crowd, but I just like the 2.0. And if I'm spending $50g's on something, I'm gonna wait for the 2.0. Thanks for your thoughts

Yeah, essentially. I think there will be a revision of the 2.0L GME T4 to address some of the issues they've seen with it but otherwise yeah, I think they will be replacing the 3.6L V6 penta with the I6 GME and stratifying the offerings with 2.0L T4 -> 3.0L T6 SO -> 3.0L T6 HO.

They would also have to drop the manual transmission, which I don't see happening yet.
Trans aside, I personally would be shocked if they dropped the 3.6. And they could always go back and put the manual on the 2.0

That would certainly be interesting. A TT 3.0 I6 would be a beast.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if they drop the manual or the penta. They dropped the diesel and I don't think its coming back. Yeah it might put off some of the OG Jeepers but thats happened with every change for the last 20+ years. When they look at their order books and sell through numbers and see >50% 4xe and >90% automatic... I don't think they are going to bat an eye at dropping the manual in favor of better performance, better fuel economy, and more simplified production pipeline.

Even if that means losing that ~3% of manual orders.
