Just picked up my 2019 a few days ago and this morning I had an icy windshield. This defrost thing sucks.
The rear defrost falls off and the front defrost doesn't work. Did they just test this thing in the desert?
The wrangler probably has the smallest windshield of any vehicle and the front defrost won't clear it. FCA better come up with a fix soon.
Nothing is broke. It just doesn't work

Mine works fine...
That's good to know. Maybe there is something wrong with mine that is not inherent with the design. It blows hot air and clears the center of the tiny windshield but nothing on the sides.
If you're in WI, you get winter as I do.and if yours works, so should mine. It's the same color.
Off to the service department.
Never had this issue with my JK

Works fine as in you get airflow from the vents on either side of the center vent? Or you don't get airflow from the sides but have no accumulation of snow/ice.

I've pretty much given up and decided to use the center vent as a mitten warmer.

There’s no way anyone’s works fine it’s a design defect with the vehicle. It may appear to work fine with minimal fogging up of the window, that clears up fast, but in colder temperatures the issue becomes very evident as is pretty clear from the 12 pages of this thread. Hopefully Jeep comes up with a fix. Only hack right now seems to be to plug most of the center vents to force air out the sides.

I thought mine wasn’t that big of a deal in minimal use in so cal where I didn’t need too much power from it but as soon as ski season started those colder temps and snow don’t clear up on the sides.

I live in Wisconsin...I think i know if it works or not. There is some air flow from the sides.

Just doesn't make sense that you have the 1 JL that has a working front defroster when its an obvious design issue, they're all the same, there's very very light airflow on the sides, not comparable to the center

Trying out these little tubing caps from Amazon... the 5/8 size fits perfectly, definitely an alternative to the socket organizer and a little less noticeable

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BMXS3RM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Only thing I don't like is they are a little bit shiny/weird textured... going to order more (definitely need way more than 10 of them) from this Ebay seller, seems to have a matte/cleaner texture to match the interior

What...do you guys expect the entire freeken windsheild to just immediately melt snow?

Mine works fine so far. It was real cold today in Philly. Also I couldn’t find any windshields that had this problem in the “show your snow wheeling pics” thread from the snow storm that hit a bunch of parts of the country late last year. All the windshields in all those frozen snowy pics looked fine. I got to think with 240,000 of these things sold last year we’d hear a lot more about this than this one thread if it was a design defect. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/forums/show-tell-jl-wrangler-photos-and-videos.39/

I like these and were exactly what I was looking for originally but couldn't find. Do they compression fit, any risk of them bouncing out? If they are snug I am getting those too, very clean look

Thanks

So, yours really doesn't work.
The "entire freeken" windshield is pretty small compared to most.
I would compare this system to a hair dryer on medium pointed to the center of the windshield.
just cold is not the problem. Snow and ice is - as was reinforced this morning.
I've never kept my jeeps in the garage - keep scratching at the door- so it is nice to have a defroster that works.

Not happy about this but your idea seems to me to be the best band-aid until Jeep does something. I'm going to order them after visiting the service department today.
I would think that even in the summer on days with high humidity this system would not defog the windows very well either.
