before you buy a Fumoto, check out the Femco, Stahlbus, and Valvomax options. They have a hose fitting that allows cleaner drain straight into a tube than I found with Fumoto. The Fumoto is great if you just want to drain straight out of the valve to a bucket, but I have found I want it to drain into a tube from the valve straight into a container. The Fumoto can do this too, if you get the longer spout and right size tube, but the Fumoto I tried didn't hold onto a tube (correct size) very securely so I had to hold it in place by hand. Not what I was looking for in a simpler, cleaner oil change. You can buy a plastic fitting for Fumoto that clips onto the spout but it's a poor fit and a pain to use. Both the Femco and Valvomax have a fitting with hose securely attached and they don't drain any oil until that fitting is screwed in. Much cleaner, simpler, and easier. You do need to keep track of that fitting/hose though, whereas the Fumoto can work fine without any fitting. After a change, I keep the cleaned fitting/hose in a baggie in the vehicle so it's always there.

Low profile may not matter if you use a skid, but a clean reliable hose connection matters even more if you have a skid installed. If you don't have a skid installed, then consider how low profile you want the drain plug to be. Fumoto has options that are more low profile than others. The Femco is offered in a very low profile version.

I have a half dozen EcoDiesel oil changes under my belt. Three pieces of advice:
  • Buy plastic tubing that I recommend in post #8. You can then direct oil accurately into a catch vessel. This one is the perfect capacity to drain/transport used oil to the reclaimation center (i.e. Autozone). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K1NHCHR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • The filter is notoriously finicky to properly seal. Be meticulous in oiling both orings or you'll throw a low oil pressure light. If you do, remove the filter and try again.
  • Use a one gallon ziplock baggy to get under, and contain, the oil filter and you avoid slopping when you remove it. It's in an ackward place. Loosen and unscrew it, but don't remove, as you are draining through your Fumoto. That allows the excess to better drip empty. As you know, the filter is the trickiest part.
Ten minute job. With clean hands.

thanks for tip on Oil Filter. My suggestion
unscrew the filter almost all the way out, but don't remove
Then do your Oil Change & any other services.
Then finish unscrewing, approximately 45-60 mins later
There should be ZERO drippage. Easy
Looking forward to doing next Oil Change with this fumoto

I've been using Fumoto Valves on about every vehicle I've owned, for 24 years. Excellent product. Just go with the one that is fixed in place, and has the short hose nipple attachment . This reduces how far it will hang down.

Thankyou everyone for your replies. When I tighten the oil filter cap I am going to tighten it by hand. Then 1/8 with the socket. Seeing I don't have a torque wrench. I read to many horror stories about breaking the housing.
