Is there no removable crush washer on the plug?

I've never been a fan of these because they limit the amount of oil that flows out IMHO.
I have actually tested this apparent belief of yours ... your belief is unfounded / not true.

I found the amount way less then an 1/8 of a shot glass.

About how many miles can I expect before this plug starts to leak?
Never seen these leak, but don't overtorque it like they often do at those quickie oil change shops.

Agreed. When properly handled it should last a long time. I've done the maintenance on our '03 Liberty since it was new, and it has the same style drain plug. It's still original.

Regardless of whether you run with a stock oil drain plug or a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve (Terrific) it is a very positive thing to add a magnet to the mix..

Consider buying a gun magnet with rubberized coating and attaching it to the bottom of the JL's oil pan. You remove the gun magnet just before you drain the oil pan and then after oil is drained re-attach the gun magnet.

Buy the gun magnet at Amazon. Here is one example..

That's good for trapping the ferrous debris. But you can't see it each OCI like the tip of a mag plug. To me, at least, a mag plug is a "gauge" to tell you when things aren't normal.

I have never replaced the plug on any vehicle I have owned. The trick is not to over tighten it. The garage people tend to over tighten things like these and lug nuts, etc.
