I built my Rubicon up to take mild trails, not crazy rock climbing stuff as it is also a daily driver. The Rubi is already super capable, so I did not want to go overboard. I looked in to most of the kits available, and in the end settled on Clayton 1.5 Overland+ with Accutune's Fox shocks. Kit is complete with arms, springs, track bars etc. Awesome quality and the ride is better than stock. Would not hesitate to do this again. And if I ever decide I want to upgrade it, it's easy peezy too.

Do you plan to up your tire size? If not just put some decent shocks on it and drive it. Id honestly go wheel a little bit before you install any lift to see how you feel about the jeep as it sits before spending thousands of dollars on something you may or may not need.

Mopar lift or AEV lift plus 35s will be more than enough for you.

2.5” should fit 35’s well, and be able to do 37’s should you get the itch. But mind you, I would be very hesitant to go even 35” if you’re not in a rubicon with D44 front and rear axles and 4.10 gears, or have upgraded axles and ring/pinion gears accordingly. So my advice would be to plan on those upgrades at a minimum along with the lift. People put 35’s on the D30 front axle, but it’s not advisable. And without proper gears, your jeep is going to struggle with power etc.

It is rubicon so I think I should be good there!

yep, all good to go for 35’s. Honestly, people put 35’s on without a lift on the Rubicon. You might just try that first.

Good to know. I will definitely look into that. The last jeep I had was a 06 wrangler X. This is my first Rubi and a 4 door to boot. I’m excited to get back to some trail. I live in the northeast so from what I’ve been seeing the trails are mostly muddy and rocky!

I just bought my first JL — a 2021 Wrangler Unlimited with the 3.6L V6 — and I’m looking to install a lift kit.

I’ve been looking at Teraflex since they seem to have a strong reputation and a well-regarded setup, but I’m also considering options like Rancho. Are there any reasons to avoid Rancho, or situations where you’d recommend one over the other?

Any advice on lift height, supporting parts (shocks, control arms, steering correction, etc.), and what to watch out for would be appreciated.
Figure out what you want to do and EVERYTHING you want to add. Bumper? Extra Gas cans? Roof rack and so on.
Once you figure out the weight you plan to carry, THEN you figure out which kit to get based on the ones designed to work in that range.

Take a peek at this YouTube (not sure how to share here) comparison. It's not inclusive of all options out there, but should give some insight into what to look for. I have yet to pull the trigger. I'm doing as Rubi SoHo is suggesting... just put 35's on stock rims. So far so good!

You can run 35s on stock Rubicon suspension just fine especially if you arent planning on doing anything over moderate wheeling. I ran 35s stock on mine for years before installing a lift. Get some rear lower control arm and shock skids and get out there and explore. See what the jeep doesnt do for you before throwing money at it.

Have run 315s on my stock ‘18 Rubi for years. Added a steel bumper and noticed she was starting to sag.
Got a great deal on a set of gently used Falcon adjustable shocks and that was the first hit of mod crack…
Went in to a Steersmarts steering series of upgrades and finally landed on the Terraflex 2.5” lift.
I have read on this forum and elsewhere it makes sense to match your springs and shocks from the same vendor as they are generally designed to work together.
I will say the included Teraflex instructions were the best i have seen on any product. Hand drawn illustrations with step by step and torque.
If you are DIYing like me, eases of install was a part of my decision making.
Best of luck on your upgrades :)

Famous words within my off road group. Many go 35's and then later they do 37s and wish they just made that jump in the first place. I ran up to 40s on my last rig with no issues on or off road. If you get the right setup, it can drive as good as factory if not slightly better.
