No winter package or tow package. Pretty basic MOAB and not even cleaned up for the pics. Seller is asking high dealer price for a private sale. Can't blame them for trying but maybe more interesting around or south of $40k. Having said that, I love my Moab. Selling prices are great right now but I won't sell mine.

I’m beginning to wonder of the OP is the owner. Not getting any hits on CL, so he’s floating it here.

I believe starting price on MOAB was $46,000, in pre-pandemic dollars. This one has LEDs, which was a $1,000 option then. Doesn’t even seem to have Tow package.

So MSRP must have been $47,000; s/he probably paid $43,000 for it new, plus tax & license.

And then, s/he went on Amazon and got the cheapest made in China crap s/he could find... ?

Options and actual MSRP are on the window sticker I posted earlier in the thread.

Oh, I thought that sticker was on a brand new JL. My bad.

Apparently the seller ain’t the only one who can’t follow instructions... ?

Oh man... you guys are some of the most helpful people I've seen on any forum. Thank you so much. Being a first time buyer, I did not know about "cheap lifts", didn't realize the spare was a 32", and whatnot. Maybe I should just buy a stock one for less and do the lift/tires myself. FWIW, I am in a rush to buy one b/c I sold my car 3 days ago and don't have an extra car to drive. Thank you all so much for your valuable input!!

Right now is a bad time to be in a rush. Dealer stock is tight, and will probably go at MSRP (or above). You should be able to get a decent deal on an order.

It's really the reason driving the used car market to crazy levels. At least buying used, you're less likely to get hurt as bad if the used market flips.

I'd also check for any damage underneath. One pic is in the mountains and it looks like it has been used actually and not a mall crawler. SO who knows what damage may be underneath.

The used market blows chunks right now, so expect to get hosed, at least a little.

Personally, I'd either go with a '15-17 JK or a '19-21 JL. 2018 was the first year of the JL, so they were working out a lot of issues, based on my research.

Generally speaking, you're going to be MUCH better off getting something as close to stock trim as you can, and building it up yourself, for a few reasons:
  1. You'll pay less *today* and can spread the cost of upgrades out over your own budget/timing
  2. You'll know you're likely getting a "mall crawler" that hasn't really been beat up on at all
  3. You'll be able to ensure that any mods that DO get put on are high-quality and correctly installed (unlike that roof rack...)
If you're new to Jeeps/offroading, then I would focus on which "creature comforts" you want - cloth vs leather, upgraded stereo, transmission, technology such as advanced cruise control, heated seats, remote start, etc.

Some help with the trims (from lowest to highest)
- Sport = generally bone-stock. Few creature comforts
- Willys = like a Sport with some Rubicon features (suspension and tires, mainly)
- Sahara = higher luxury (leather, etc)
- Rubicon = more off-road focused

The "Altitude" version of Sport/Sahara is just a slightly higher end, and usually just includes luxury features that were optional on the non-Altitude version of whatever trim you're looking at.

Personally, I went with Sahara, because mine's a daily driver but I still want to be able to "do stuff". I only went Altitude because it was ~$400 more than the regular Sahara after I added all my extra "toys", so it made sense.

You can put a lift kit, bumpers, bigger tires, lockers, etc on a Sport that function the same (if not better) as what's on a Rubicon.

Southern California is a huge market. Chances are, you can find a new JL sitting on a lot somewhere, or a used one in clean condition.

Also, be aware that a lot of Californians buy from Peterson CDJR and Dennis Dillon CDJR, near Boise, ID. They are large Chrysler dealers that —in normal times— sell at huge discounts. They are used to selling to out-of-state customers.

You can check out their inventories here:

Most prefer to buy stock and build it to suit their taste/wants/needs. I rarely see a used modified one that is done they way I would like it.

Buy the best condition stock one you can. Then do a lot of reading and asking here before beginning to modify. You will be happier in the end.

First time buyer - long time lover! What do you guys think about this deal?

2018 MOAB with same color top, no soft top, 25k miles, 3" Rough Country Stock lift kit, 35".

Price: $45,000
Run, do not walk. Nothing to see here. Move along.
In my area, the used jeeps are going for more then new. Who in there right mine would buy used over new. I bought my 2020 rubicon diesel fully loaded in 2020 for $51K. I look everyday in my area and just found a new diesel for $45k sport pretty loaded. Just keep looking, sure you will find something.
