July 4th. Went for a quick drive. Saw a VA State Trooper make a u-turn, didn't think too much of it. Not speeding. Immediately pulls behind me and flashes the lights. I pull over. He says I didn't do anything wrong, but tells me that I have illegal lights. I thought he was talking about my light bar and pod lights. Did I have them on? Nope. He asked if my headlights and fender lights were aftermarket or special addition. I said they were stock. He was surprised at how bright they were, he said that it made him turn his head away when we were passing. That was why he turned around. I told him this would be good for the forum and we laughed, he apologized for the inconvenience. Told him, no problem and be safe.

I guess these lights are that bright! Thought I'd share.
Right after I got my 19 rubi, w/ LED head light package, I was headed out to work at zero dark 30 and turned a corner right behind a new-ish Corvette. Instantly, this guy starts waving him arms, hitting his brakes and I could actually hear him screaming. We were still doing less than 25 mph on a side street. I flashed the hi beams for about 3-4 seconds and his arms stop waving, he stops hitting the brakes but I can still hear him yelling all kinds of great things. I laughed out loud and just waited till he went in a different direction. I can’t help it if his car is too low. I have absolutely no sympathy for him.

When people complain about lights being too bright even in a rental car they complain that I was in I let them read my lip saying can't your effing windows. I don't have people do it I had a rental car before like most in the windows aren't 10 and it was hot as hell and at night time all the lights are just shining in bright I don't know how people don't get tint windows especially on new cars That's why most dealers are doing it now making people pay for it. Or they buy a car it's already 10 from the factory but the two driver windows aren't and then they complain about your headlights being too bright I can't drive without tent windows I've been driving for 46 years I've never drove a car with that I owned without tender windows I started tinting my windows a day I was 16

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I knew it was VA. When I got my jeep inspected back in July the inspector told me that one of our local state troopers told him that he pulled every Jeep with LEDs over to make sure they weren't using replacement bulbs, which are illegal here. Don't know if it was true or not because all I have is the inspector's story. I guess we'll see when I get my aftermarket LEDs for my new rig. If it is true I pity anyone who drives through here with OEM LED lights because my little town lives off of traffic fines and speeding tickets.

I have a stock 2021 JLULXR and the lights were too high from the factory. I adjusted them down IAW several videos I checked out on Youtube and things got a lot better as far as people flashing me to turn down my lights.

I'm surprised, as it seems most drivers in the DMV drive with their high beams on constantly and I never see cops stopping those vehicles...

?‍♂ All I can go by is the warning that my inspector gave me. I told him I was going to upgrade to LED and he said even if I got the right ones this trooper said he was pulling folks over

Interesting to see this old thread pop up. I've been doing more night driving lately and man do I despise the newer trend of LED headlights.

Yes, I know they produce more light, better light, longer lasting vs halogen, etc. But they're so frequently poorly aimed/adjusted that I get damn near blinded driving around. I have my rear window tinted so dark it's basically useless at night but they still hit my side view mirrors or from oncoming traffic. Worst "advancement" in car technology, IMO.

Sure, if/when I "upgrade" mine to LED, I can ensure they're properly adjusted, but that doesn't help me - it's everyone else that blinds me with theirs.

I believe you, I would imagine Jeeps owners upgrade lights more then others and with the height of the vehicle (and if lights are not properly aligned) blinds most on-coming cars.

Haven't been pulled over, but I've had a few drivers opposite me flash their high beams, to which I high beam them back. The same stuff happened back when HID and Xenon headlights started making their rounds across makes.

I live in DC and find that VA, particularly Northern VA, is generally over-policed. Not surprised.

Properly aimed and maybe more importantly, kept clean. My eyes are pretty sensitive to nighttime glare from oncoming headlights and the majority of modern, factory LEDs in a clean condition don't seem to bother me too much. The ones that do are either aftermarket low-beam LEDs with scattered lighting inside a reflector housing designed for halogens without any form of cut-off, or lifted vehicles that never bothered to readjust their aim, or just the diffusion you'll get from having a brighter than average light source coming out of a dirty or scuffed/weathered headlight housing.

FYI, I've never had "warm" beer in the UK, nor can any of my Brit friends confirm "warm" is normal serving temp. Stouts, Porters, Pales, etc. tend to have better flavor when "slightly" chilled, so that is usually what you'll find. ICE COLD beer is a US thing, probably brought upon by the fact that our largest producers of beer here in the US brew mostly cheaply made Pilsners, which really need a good chilling to not taste like crap.
As a Brit, now a U.S. citizen living in the desert southwest, I have never ever been served warm beer in the UK. Why do people perpetuate this nonsense?
