Our 2019 2-Door Sport S has been great. Bought it new, have never had a problem with it on the highway. Ours is the 3.6 with 8 Speed Automatic. Before we bought it I drove a stock Sport, and would have been happy with that but the window crank on the driver side hit me right in the left knee when the window was rolled up, and I knew that would drive me batty over a long period of time. So we went with the Sport S, no window cranks.

Best,
-Tim

PS: Congrats, I just saw you posted that you bought the Jeep. That's a beautiful color. Is that a Sport or a Sport S? It's got the Sport S wheels that came on our 2019, but maybe those are coming on the Sport these days.
Thank you ? yes it's the Sport S, 2022.

Hello, I been debating on a purchasing a JL 2 door Wrangler Sport. I love how they look and like many, always wanted to own one. I get on these forums and read all the issues people have after not even 6 months of owning them and horror stories about how they ride on the highway. I'm 52 years old and my mom owned a 1988 Wrangler back in the early 90s and loved it. Is it like other vehicles and just luck of the draw for quality issues or is it really that bad on trips to the dealer for service? Also on the ride, I thought the JL was fine on the highway then see people talking about service bulletins and ripping the way their JL drives over 45mph. What's your experience and opinion on this? I'm at a loss on if I should pull the trigger and just get one or will I regret it and have issue after issue. Thanks.
People who are unhappy with a product will complain a lot louder than people who are satisfied with a product. I have been very happy with my two previous Jeeps. And I think I will be very happy with my new Sahara, when I get it.

Just bought my first wrangler. My brother is a Jeep guy and I have fond memories of being driven around in the mountains with my grandpa in his old Jeep.
Nothing else will do now. It’s harder to drive than my Subaru was, gas mileage sucks, and will likely have issues as time goes on but I love the thing so much.

The JL seems great on highways to me... but I'm also not the type of person who would describe 5 mph winds as "catastrophic, hurricane like conditions" ?
One of the Auto reviewers, Car and Driver or somebody else gives Wrangler lower ratings because the can be noisy due to wind noise and they ride rough. Anybody that knows anything about Jeeps knows not to expect a really smooth or quiet ride. Jeepers do not care about that. I own a Jeep so I can put the top down for 7 months out of the year. I love the wind noise and all the air blowing through my hair.

Exactly, people need to be realistic about what they are buying.

A Jeep is a horse of a different color. Most here love them which is why we buy them. They ride/ drive “different“ than the typical soccer mom mobile, they are “crude” compared to modern SUV’s. With that said, those of us who love them wouldn’t want anything else. My Wranglers have been as reliable as anything else I’ve owned, and I’ve owned a Bunch of vehicles. Take a long test ride (or better yet, rent one for a week or so. Drive the way you’ll normally drive it. If it speaks to you, buy it. If you have doubts, don’t as you’ll likely be disappointed. Good luck!
I had my 2001 Wrangler until 2019 and can honestly say I had very few problems with it. It was a very reliable vehicle. I had to replace the starter and the water pump when it was probably 14 years old, and I had to replace the radiator on it at 16 or 17 years old. I am a Jeeper for life.

I spent a long time stessing over whether I should buy an Apple laptop. I knew it was a very good product but not always in synch with the rest of the world and different than what I was used to. That was 15 years ago and I’m about to buy my third one. I also just purchased my third Wrangler and had similar worries when I bought my first. But two of the best decisions I ever made. Moral: don’t think so much and go with your feelings.

Thank you sir, well only done a few small things like grab handles and just ordered a tire cover. I don't have too much to work with right now but happy to finally have one.
If you are thinking of a lift in the future. You can always go to a dealer with used ones and test drive some with different lift and tire sizes. I feel like the ‘problems’ people mention with drive comfort/noise happen after they are lifted. I had a TJ on 33s and it was a completely different feel/ride than my in-laws TJ on 35s. Much quieter too.

Congrats! Once it’s warm enough take the doors off (get yourself some mirrors to keep yourself legal) and enjoy the heck out of it. One of the best things about the Wrangler is driving it sans doors/top.

I got my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2DR Sport Freedom edition on 6/21/21. Did some mods to personalize it a bit and absolutely love it! Now up to 5600 miles after driving it six hours back up from Delaware this morning. No, a two door Jeep isn’t going to be the smoothest riding vehicle, or the best handling vehicle, or the quietest vehicle, or the most gas efficient… but it sure is the MOST fun! Whether I’m sloshing through New England snow, or cruising to the golf course with the top off in the warmer weather, it’s the right vehicle for me! ?? Definitely need to thoroughly test drive before you buy to make sure it’s what you want, though.

I have owned Jeeps from the CJ's to the JLU. The JLU is the most grown up friendly Jeep I have had. At 58 I still love a good Jeep. If you are thinking about one, you should get one.

everyone expects the Jeep to drive like a 2 door sports car. its s solid axle truck. is it more comfortable than a pick up. yes. is it more comfortable than a BMW or benz. hell no. is it the most fun youll have while driving. Yes. is there a chance to get a lemon. yes, ever manufacture has lemons but most do not get talked about because most dont have a forums. Most people come to a forum to complain about a problem and find a solution about their problem. Truth be known Jeeps are rather reliable and still pretty easy to work on. I have a 2018 JLU sportS and i couldnt be happier. I was worried myself when bought it because all i saw on the forums was how bad the steering was and how crappy it handles etc. none of which i had a problem with. I did go in for a bad rear main seal with only 5K miles but my local dealership was able to get it fixed within a couple weeks ( due to parts not being available ) But all in all i wouldnt trade it in or sale it for anything else

What's shame is that the steering issue was even allowed to escape the factory and that fellow jeeper dismissed it as "it's a Jeep thing" inferring a new Jeep owner doesn't know how a Jeep should steer, because it has a solid front axle, blah blah blah and should just live with it cause that's the way they are. That steering issue has hung over the JL's reputation and continues to haunt it, although it mostly affected the 2018-19 model years. I had the issue and it was real. Scary real. After 3 years and about $4,000 of my money, I'm very happy with the steering. It's safe, easy for anyone to drive and doesn't wander like a 2 a.m. drunkard. For you "it's a solid front axle" folks, keep in mind a Shelby Cobra was also a solid front axle when you say that.

I never said the steering issue wasn't real especially the death wobble. I know that was a big problem. The other problem is people think it its going to be capable of lane diving and driving 90mph. Most cases of wandering are due to the width of the jeep and the road ways that are worn to shit by the semi trucks. I have this same problem in my older Pickup. the 12.5" wide wheels love to follow the road. and thats had perfect steering for over 40 years and has been maintained well beyond what i should be.
