After about six weeks of back & forth with a dealer, I think I am going to pull the trigger this evening on a loaded 2018 JLU Rubicon V6. I think it has about every option, except the soft top.

The salesman is a good guy... young family man working a lot of hours to support his family. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure the sales manager hates me (really :like:).

I would have liked to have waited to get a 2019 model year, but I only found one with the V6 and it was the wrong color (it was a ordered unit that the buyer backed out on).
The dealer is having to do a dealer trade to get the color & equipment I want, so probably will not take delivery until late next week.

Anyway, I've been lurking and learning here for several weeks and I am grateful for the wisdom and info I have gleaned from some of the post I have read here... it has helped me be a more "informed buyer".

So far, the first planned mod will be the front bumper. Pretty sure I will be going with a Rock Hard aluminum. I will probably not get too carried away with the mods, as my plan (so far) is that this will be my daily driver.

So anyway, maybe I can upload a pic or two next week.

TD

Troy, I wish you all the luck and if nothing else don't want to be a kill joy. But here's where I'm am humbly confused.

You're willingness to wait it out for 6 weeks tells me that your buying habits reflect more that of the buyer interested in getting the best deal, rather than one paying more for the convenience of driving a rig off the showroom floor: even if it was some other dealer's showroom floor initially.

If convenience and speed were something you were willing to pay for I'd simply say, "well, I felt differently when I purchased but best luck to you."

Now, given all this time, I get how you don't want to wait another 8+ weeks. But why not do a factory order with one of the high volume dealers closest to you that this bboard recommends--especially if the time crunch is mostly in your head, not in the absence of alternate means of transportation?

With a factory order you won't pay for features you don't want, don't do without features you do want, get those features as part of the sticker--so insurance will cover them if the rig is stolen or damaged, and get a great price.

Just a thought. I wish you nothing but the best anyway you go with this!

Yes, I get the salesman's a family man. It sounds like you might be too. Money in your pocket is money not in his and vice versa. If he's not willing to match price on a factory order, crying poverty, suggest that he speak to his boss about setting up a volume sales program that will offer FCA incentives to the dealer that can be essentially shared with the customer.

Get 5% under invoice or less. Give 1/4 of it to the family man. The other 3/4 to front bumper. Otherwise, order it. No sense to me in spending 51k on something you're not in love with. I paid 60% of that and didn't budge on everything.

Love the above post

Congrats! Your going to love it! As long as you are happy with the deal then you are happy overall. It's not about squeezing every penny out the deal sometimes.
