just get it. stop being cheap or lazy and get it lol. ive heard people say they dont want to spend the extra $50 or whatever or they say, meh, i have Plus. STOP what you're doing, pick up the phone, call AAA, and upgrade, before you forget. if you have another service or your insurance will tow you, awesome. hopefully they will tow you 200 miles for free like Premier will.
@SadRobot just went through an ordeal where her jeep broke down in BFE. AAA towed it to the local mechanic in Radiator Springs. he couldnt fix it, surprise. she was stuck. no rental options etc... she called AAA, they said $2k to tow it 165 miles back to her house. Mater offered to tow it for her for $1k. she has basic AAA which gives you 9-12 miles or something like that. after that, the clock starts running. some tow yards will charged $10-13 a mile! do the math.
with AAA Premier, you get one 200 mile tow per year. and three additional 100 mile tows. ive been going to Big Bear and San Diego quite a bit lately, both of which are just over 100 miles from my house. let alone some other trails or even Vegas or san francisco. ive used the 200 mile tow a couple times in the past. as a car guy with highly modified vehicles, sht happens. AAA Plus only gives you a 100 mile tow.
i was on the phone with my father who lives out in BFE and drives all over. he said he had it but cancelled it because he never used it (he's cheap) and its a waste of money blah blah blah. i told him how much sadrobot was looking at and he was in shock. he thought it would be a couple of hundred bucks like it was back in the early 80s lol. (he still thinks Germany is the same as it was back in the 70s when he was stationed there lmao).
do yourself and God forbid any passengers a huge favor and upgrade to Premier before its too late. and yes, i told sadrobot to call and upgrade over the phone but they told her there is a 7 day waiting period before it kicks in. they know.... lol.
and no, i dont work for AAA lol. i hear its a horrible place to work. ive had more than a couple friends/family who have broken down a ways from home and only have the basic service and i always hear excuses why.
