I have the ignik+propane tank. Best purchase I’ve made for my camping trips. The flames may not be as big as a wood firepit but it gets the job done. Pro tip is to add lava rocks off of amazon to help with the flame dispersal.
This is what I did for no burn years or areas. I love that thing . Works great and compact if you’re tight on space

Odd. I got an Alert that you quoted a post of mine, but it seems to be absent after navigating to yours.

That's probably because I had clicked to reply to your burn ban question but saw someone had answered. A glitch in the matrix I guess.

Oh, I know the feeling.

I recently made a pie, and earlier this morning I went upstairs to have a slice, my first.

Said pie was MIA. Turns out, Wife and Offspring consumed every slice.

They too claimed a glitch occurred, saying I must've misremembered making the pie, but I'm not convinced... ;)

I got my new regulator and same issue. I've reached out to LavaBox to see if they have any other ideas. Hopefully this issue can be fixed. Otherwise I think I'm going to get rid of this thing and buy something else than can maintain a flame. I'm pretty disappointed since I did so much research before deciding to buy the LavaBox. 😢

Always a punch to the gut when you research and your chosen product disappoints. But it happens... I think we have all been there. Don't blame yourself...just move on and let it go. Happy with my Ignik FWIW.

Forgive if I missed it, but what size propane bottle are you using? With 1lb, 5lb, and even my 10lb, eventually the bottle starts to freeze up which reduces propane flow. Next time touch the bottle and see how it feels. You can also pour a bit of water on the bottle when the fire level drops and you'll see the flame spike back up for a bit. Only on 20lb bottles have I not seen this occur. Also, it doesn't seem to matter which fire pit you have, all mine do it sooner or later with anything less that 20lb bottles and the ones with the higher BTU do it faster.

Interesting. I'm using a 5LB tank.

Give it a try on your 20lb from your BBQ or run it off the 5lb and then throw some outdoor temp water on it when the flame drops. Let us know!
Just did a test. My tank from my grill turns out is 15LB. I got the same result, actually maybe even worse. Flame died a few minutes earlier than the 5LB. The temp of the 15LB tank was warm not cold.

I haven't tried putting water on my 5LB tank because that seems like in a camping scenario to be worse than just leaning over and turning up the regulator.

I just got an update from LavaBox after showing them the results of my test with the new regulator. They said they believe the issue is 100% the regulator and nothing to do with the box or the propane.

I think they may be sending me a 3rd one to try OR I may just go the hardware store tomorrow and see if I can pick one up and test that theory.

3rd regulator is on the way. Looking at the reviews on LavaBox website this is pretty common although most times a 2nd replacement seems to fix the issue.

I'm sure they get these things shipped in huge batches and I imagine some are just junk.

Crossing my fingers that 3rd time is the charm. 🤞

I will say so far their customer service has been great. They are really responsive via email and are really trying to get this issues fixed for me and stand by their product.

Reporting back after receiving the 3rd regulator hose from LavaBox. Same issue. The flame starts high and after 10 minutes it's barely anything.

I tried the water trick also and that did nothing. I've let Lavabox know and asked about their return policy as I think this is just an inferior product.

If I can return it and get my money back I guess I'll start my research again for something else.
