Right now I used my huge 20 lb propane tank and it just takes up too much space.
What are you all using and where did you get it from?

As soon as my Gobi rack arrives (hopefully next week), I will be doing this: I will also carry a second 5 lb tank either on the rack behind the RTT, or on a sister set up on the other ladder.

A silly question perhaps, but is it possible to hook up one of the 5 lb tanks to a standard Coleman two-burner stove?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those Coleman tanks 1 lb, not 5 lb?

Yes, the standard coleman-style disposable tanks are 1-lb. The issue I suppose would be the regulator. If you have the right line/fittings and the right regulator, I'd think the stove wouldn't care (or know) how big the tank that's feeding it is. Right?

Yes, sorry. I misunderstood the post. Indeed the adapter works great. I use one for my 20 lb when cooking on my Camp Chef Everest.

I recently came across this 10 lbs tank at REI and was contemplating on checking it out. I've been using the single-use 1 pounders for a long while and decided it's time to changes things up.

I believe that for this product "10 lbs" refers to the tare weight of the empty tank, not the capacity. Pretty sure the capacity is 5 lbs. This kit seems rather expensive, too.

You’re right. My bad. When clicking through for more details there is a photo that indicates it has a 5 lbs capacity. I’m still interested in checking it out but I’m not in any rush. I may wait for REI to have a 20% off sale to give it a go.

I figure sometime between the 3rd and 4th fill up, I’ll have broken even. Plus, I won’t have to bring multiple 1 lb bottles on trips anymore.

You may also want to consider a less expensive option: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000243QA0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I just picked up a pair of these and they seem to be excellent quality.

Just saw this thread... I used to camp with a little 5 pounder and an adapter hose to replace the Coleman 1 lb bottles:

I had a lantern tree and ran both stove and lantern off that tank. Easy and nice not dealing with the 1 lb tanks. Can also have it as a backup / spare tank if you have a gas grill at home. Valve setup is the same as the 20 lb tanks.
