Propane Fire Pit

Any suggestions on a propane fire pit for overlanding? Would be nice to be able to cook on it as well. Want it to be as clean as possible with no rock dirt getting everywhere.

If you cook bratwurst, or something similar, over the open flame, does the fire pit get messy? I'd imagine the food residue and grease would just burn off with no issue.

I would look into some sort of cast iron that you can cook on instead atop the flame.
If you've done any sort of propane grilling, you know grease will fall and while a lot will burn off, sure, a LOT is going to turn into burned up crud on the bottom. And unlike a grill which typically has stuff over the flame to protect the burner holes, a fire pit won't.

That said, things like hot dogs and marshmallows on skewers don't drip much grease.

The Lavabox is pretty cool, comes with the cooking grill. It’s also made in the USA as opposed to the Ignik.

We don't cook on ours but you can. We have one of the very first lava boxes and we love it! It's a small family owned company that employees alot of vets. They are great people.

We have the Little Red Campfire. Nice enough for small group to sit around, although not tremendously huge on heat for several people at a time, and I certainly would not recommend cooking on it.

The Lavabox is pretty cool, comes with the cooking grill. It’s also made in the USA as opposed to the Ignik.

I saw these at the Pomona Offroad Expo and the flame can get pretty high and toasty warm!

The only downsides are that it seems like without the legs you need very level ground. They do sell an optional stand but now that's 1 extra thing you have to carry. Plus extra money/

The grill idea is nice except it's going to drip and make a mess. The Ignik has a full insert that is removable and can be easily cleaned.
