I'd recommend a 1/2" impact the remove those bolts. Could maybe get away with a 3/8" if they aren't really stuck on there.

If you don't have that you could also try a breaker bar and spray with some PB blaster. When I did my t-case swap I hit all of the skid plate bolts with PB Blaster the day before to try to loosen everything up.

Yes but I'm having trouble removing the skid plate, my 1/4 impact wrench couldn't do crap. I'm going back home to grab my 1/2

That's worth a shot also. I always try my extra long 3/8" socket wrench first and if that's no bueno I go for the impact. My skids have been on and off with power tools so some of the bolts we're really stuck and I had to use a 1/2" impact to get them moving.

Okay guys, I used my biochemical impact wrench to remove the stupid thing . I will leave the stupid thing here, and I'm going back to AutoZone for the fluid change

I used a wide mouth funnel and jammed it up in the skid plate. It drained perfectly through the funnel and into my drain pan. Might be easier than taking it all apart.

It does not take this much planning, tool gathering and product studying to change transfer case fluid. It's literally the simplest fluid change on a Jeep. Only part of any difficulty is refilling, but the Amazon hand pump solves that. If you spill fluid on the skid plate, then go to the car wash afterwards (which you should do anyway) and bend down and use the high-pressure spray wand and wash it out. Take the opportunity to power wash the entire undercarriage, something most Jeeps on this site can use.

Don't over torque the fill or drain plugs, you don't want to crack the housing. Hand tight with a ratchet, and a bit more, is fine.
