Question for people who have experience with the premium soft top on a JL. Can anyone give me their opinion on how much better the quality is and also wind noise using the premium soft top vs the standard soft top? Hoping maybe some people have some experience with both on the JL.

Thanks!

I checked out both before I ordered mine, and went with the premium.

It's a fabric, where the regular one is more of a vinyl like material.

It's blacker in color.

Just feels way sturdier, and better made.

That being said, I don't think there would be much of any difference as far as wind noise.

This has been asked and answered, though the threads are hard to find unless you use Google’s site keyword.
FWIW, I love my premium top and have no regrets. Quieter, blacker (nicer looking), more durable.

Mine came with the standard, and I just bought a brand new premium from someone on this forum (she had dual top and no need for soft top). Not sure if many would actually do what I did, but main reason I did it was because I like the fabric more and I absolutely love the true black color a lot more. I have the standard up for sale currently. Tbh however in terms of wind noise I don't really notice too much difference, it did not get appreciably softer for me after switching to the premium top.

I tried both before I bought my former JK with the premium soft top. I didn't notice much difference in noise on the JK, although the JK was certainly more agricultural than my new JL. I went with the premium on my new JL for mostly the reasons others have stated. Looks nicer, feels nicer to handle when raising and lowering and generally just has a more premium black look, particularly when you have a black Jeep like mine.

Are you lookin' to upgrade your vinyl or change out your hardtop? The premium top is probably worth the $600 from the factory, but I'm not sure it's worth the $2300+ aftermarket. The plastic windows are always going to be the weak link, right? (as far as noise and durability). Maybe you have the inclination to baby those things to keep them looking new-ish, but I sure don't. If (when?) Bestop does their hybrid top for the JL, I'll be springing for the premium twill on that... until then, cheap top makes more sense to me.
