I am having the knock as well. 3.6 auto. Happens just for a few seconds when I accelerate. I can repeat it by letting off the gas and accelerating again. Not a hard acceration that would cause it to kick down to a lower gear.

Yep. I tried explaining that to the technician, and he told me I was confusing the computers VVT because it attempts to anticipate my driving habits.

I'm hoping its something as simple as timing parameters are off in the ECU. More importantly, I hope someone takes this seriously so that way 5 years down the road when constant spark knock destroys the motor I'm not assed out because warranty is up

I was just going to ask if any of you tried premium in your 3.6 to see if it made a difference? I wonder if it has anything to do with ethanol? Are you guys running gas with higher concentrations of ethanol?

My dealer couldn't get me in until end of August. So many recalls and what not.

I tried 91 octane and various brands of 87. Hasn't alleviated the issue.

I ran my tank close to empty, filled with Mobil premium, and the knock is gone...

I finally had my appointment today to discuss this with my dealer.

I was able to replicate the sound with a tech in the vehicle. I was advised there is no known fix. He agreed it was engine knock.

I have an open case with FCA now.

I had a half tank of 87 and added in a half tank of 93 and drove 20 miles, still hear it.

Well my Jeep was at the dealer for 2 days straight. They claim its not the engine or transmission but dont know what it is. They heard it when I did a test drive inside with them but said they were unable to recreate it :-(.

My Jeep continues to make the noise which I heard as soon as I drove out. I don't know what else to do. They said that they're positive its not the engine or transmission and that theycouldn't find anything loose.

I filled up at a different gas station(chevron) with 89 octane instead of 87 and the spark knock went away.
