The high pressure fuel pump was part of a recall. It also caused a stop sale for awhile.
I had both mine done and I am not worried about them causing issues anymore. My dealer put a sticker on the underside of the hood with the recall campaign. Plus a B5 sticker on the inside of the fuel filler door.
Good to know. Makes this decision much easier. Thanks for the info

The fuel pump issue, was that something that was recalled or was it on a case by case basis. I want to be sure as I buy pre owned that I’m aware of what may be covered provided it was not a recall. Would suck to finally grab my first Jeep only to have to replace a fuel pump on my dime. Love the truck by the way.
It was covered in the recall, and mine was replaced. The issue is that they do not have a different pump and replaced it with the same one and it will have the same potential failure at some point, and by then it may be out of warranty. If so, you would be responsible for the pump at the least, and perhaps injectors, fuel lines, and a tank depending upon the failure.

Gotcha. Provided it was still under CPO warranty, wondering if this and added work would be covered understanding the stress to actually deal with getting warranty support.

My understanding is that they made some changes to the new pump. It should last.

Plus there are aftermarket pumps out there that have changes that should last a long time.

I agree. Once I drove the diesel I loved it. I just need to pull the trigger already. Anyone I speak to who’s had one generally is pretty positive about their experience.
jeeze, you haven't done this already? get on with it! ;)

the CP4 High Pressure Fuel Pump was recalled on a national NHTSA Recall. (Z58/NHTSA 22E-048)
you can find plenty of detail searching around on it here and elsewhere. it should have been performed on any EcoDiesel you buy from any Dealer, or it is to be performed at no cost to you. (you might need to look around for a knowledgeable dealer; they don't all seem to be as well versed in Diesel repairs.)
there have been claims that the replacement pump is/is not the same as what they're replacing, but i don't recall having ever heard of one of the replacements failing.

love ours, by the way. build it up, load it down, and there's no other powerplant that beats it for low-RPM torque, or for range.

Haha. You’re not wrong. I need to pull the trigger. I appreciate all the insight on this. I’ll definitely make sure I address the history on the recall with the fuel pump.

do it; i'll bet you'll be glad you did.

depending on what year your prospective candidate is, there are a few other recalls that a good selling dealer should be able to verify having been done too, likely including the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module); 15B/NHTSA 24E-025.
