The 2024 crush caps (if that’s what they’re called) stick out a lot farther than the pre-2024 versions. Can anyone confirm if the pre-2024 would be compatible with the 2024 metal bumper? Picture with the item in question in green. Thanks for the help.

None... but it pays well.
2024 happens to be an anniversary of the big pokie production from AMC... the original Jeep people.

Here is 1973...

Is this there some legal requirement to have crush cans?I can only assume they do next to nothing with respect to allowing a greater crumple zone. Maybe the airbag sensor can detect their “crush” and this added millisecond helps with the airbags?

I’d be nervous cutting this off without knowing for sure.

I have the same concerns with the airbags. What does trigger those? The forum member in the video didn’t experience any trouble. But still …

Did he get in a head on wreck to test?

I believe the airbags are triggered on a G sensor. So, it’s possible the crash can could have some influence. Is it material or not? I dunno.

Perhaps as previously mentioned it’s for the crash test, and they are to extend a minimum distance from the furthest point of the vehicle, now the winch clip.. Measure the distance from the furthest point, even if it’s the clip’s bolt to the leading edge of the Dolly Parton Crash Cans, then measure one without them. Or, just change them (I would), everything has it’s place,
for DD cups, it isn’t a Jeep

I'm no expert on this, but I think it's more "legal theater" than anything. Legally there is probably some issue with selling a vehicle where a "component" like the fairleed or shackle mount protrudes further than the bumper from the factory. The solution? Make the bumper bigger, even if it's just plastic (which most bumpers are anyway)

Check out the Bugatti Chiron. It has something similar with needing bolt on rubber pads to "increase bumper surface area" or some BS for US regulations. I tried finding a video of them, but they're effectively rubber pads that come attached to the rear bumper from the factory... which are promptly removed by the dealership upon receipt of the vehicle...

Edit: legally you can do a ton of modifications that can't be sold as factory standard equipment. A Safari JXL extension is legal to add to your Jeep, but would NEVER be a factory option.
