I picked one of these up to install when I change the fluid. This thing is a beast and has a drain plug with integral magnet and the ability to add a temp probe if desired.

Is this the version with the 1 extra quart, 1.5 extra quart or the 2.5 extra quart of capacity?

When you install it, i'd love to know
- How much extra height does it add to your transmission pan? I have an engine/transmission skid and there isn't a ton of room between the skid and the trans pan.
- How much improvement do you notice in terms of its cooling performance?
- How does the quality of the builtin filter look compared to the OEM unit?
- This unit doesn't seem to have the builtin magnets (other than the plug) like the OEM unit, are additional magnets present?

- This is the 1.5QT extra capacity pan
- Attached are the dimensions of the pan. I have a MC skid system, but in all the photos that I have seen with it mounted, clearance should not be an issue.
- Given that the skid plate system blocks most of the air, I would not expect to have any appreciable change in cooling performance (up or down), but will see once I change it out.
- The filter is removable as is the OEM on a Wrangler. The PPE filter is very well built, and it is quite a bit larger than the OEM (not interchangeable).
- The PPE pan does not have additional magnets--only the drain plug, but that magnet is about 3/4" in diameter.

That looks like a must have pan if you don't have skids. I don't yet and high centered my JLR on the auto transmission pan. All 4 wheels spun easily, I'd say 95% of the weight was on the pan. I was pretty nervous when my buddy pulled me out, but all it did was scratch the hell out of the pan. The offending rock didn't have any sharp points and I got lucky.

I'll get skids when I get new axles/lift. But if you've got full skids, I don't see much benefit to upgrading the pan.

It's an amazing looking pan, too bad you can see it unless you're under the Jeep.

But if you've got full skids, I don't see much benefit to upgrading the pan.
For me a few things:

1. Increased oil capacity vs. OEM
2. Magnetic drain plug to facilitate a few drain and refill to replace most of the fluid so that I do not have to drop the pan.
3. Larger filter media vs. OEM

Did you have any issues with the oil pan making contact with the exhaust tube?
I seem to be having that issue with this pan atm.

I seem to be having that issue with this pan atm.
I actually sold mine for this reason--I bought the powder coated version and did not want to grind on the pan; note that PPE states for the 3.6L you may have to grind the fins down.

PPE has since introduced a new pan that is properly designed and is already machined to clear the exhaust pipe. With that said, the other thing that I did not like was the proprietary filter they use versus the OEM filter.
