Meh, if your worried about the interior getting wet.....you may want to rethink a Jeep purchase. They make them water resistant (notice I did not say water proof?...yea big legal difference in terminology there) so much so that you can pull the carpet, drain plugs and spray them out on purpose. Who cares!

If it leaks while driving yea that is an issue (2011-2013 JK A pillars top gaskets come to mind)...but leaking after you open the door in the rain or at a car wash? Not a big deal at all.

The power top was a huge bust on the Liberty a few years back, Jeep has some ground to make up and prove that top as valuable before anyone should consider it IMO.

The amount of water that ran into that JL was excessive. Over time, that WILL hurt the interior. It will also promote frozen doors in winter. The water is getting down into the headlight switch, defrost vent, etc. Terrible.

This is another example of engineering not following through with an idea. They used fixed A-pillars on the JL, unlike the JK, which means they could have easily drained that water through tubes down the A-pillar just like they do on sunroofs with other models. Simple fix. But no....they had to half-@$$ it and give us a vehicle that's overpriced and will end up with mildew in the carpet. Wonderful.

Hopefully this preproduction model will give them a chance to fix the issue before our Jeeps hit the road. Otherwise I'll have to wait even longer for the top I want.

It is not about the interior just getting wet. Summer, not much issue I can dry it out but in winter 40 degrees and raining it is misserable, plus I don't want a bunch of mildew in the vehicle. (it doesn't dry well in the winter) When I was 20 and purchased my first jeep for a couple of grand my attidue was who cares it is a jeep (I only had a bikini top and would have to wear a rainsuit when it poured because my cloth doors held closed with a coat hanger paired with a bikini top didn't keep the water out); however if I am spending 50K I don't water to pour in when it is 40 degrees and raining. For some reason if I wheel my jeep and take care of it, yes I wash it after every trip and even when I don't take it on a trip and trash never stays in the vehicle, "I don't use it properly."

I agree, it's not about the Jeep getting wet I know they can handle it occasionally but every time it rains is a no go for me. The Jeep I configured on line retails out at over $56k and I want a diesel so it will be close to $60k For that kind of money it had better not flood itself every time I open my door. I live in TN and it can storm on any given day through the summer so I want the power top so I'm not worried about my Jeep sitting out with the top down and a storm blowing in.

I think some are confused here about where the water is coming from. This is from the gutters on the side. NOT the slide-back top.

Valid point, but im just saying water coming in an open door happens on just about every vehicle out there. 2016 Tahoe, 2011 F150, 2000 Wrangler, 2011 Honda Crosstour, 2017 Ford Explorer, 2009 Wrangler, 2018 Challenger...I travel a lot for work so I rent a lot of vehicles through the years aside from what ive owned personally. I cant think of a vehicle ive ever owned/rented that did not get some bit of water in when you open the door after a car wash or while its raining.

It doesnt leak while it rains so in my book, mission aaccomplished, its not gonna flood while your driving.

About it being a lot of water, ok I see that point and see how it may just be related to bad hard top drip rail design. Its just a non issue for me, Im a long time Wrangler owner and have already accepted that Wranglers will always be loud (road noise), they are not always element sealed, they drive like a billboard in a hurricane, and they will start squeaking in the first 10,000 miles. Its just the way they are, and anything above that expectation for me is a :like:.

Edit: To the folks complaining about the price and get what you pay for...I get it...its a crap ton of money. But Wranglers arent luxury, even a fully loaded Sahara is still not luxury. For the price should it be? Yea probably!...but truth is, it isnt. It is getting closer as the years go by, but its still far from an Escalade or something. It was never intended to be, its unique, its awesome, and I will sell my kids if I have to in order to afford it LOL (yes thats a joke!)

I'm really not concerned where the water is coming from. That was a ton of water flowing into the Jeep. I realize that most of the time you just hop in and shut the door and that would stop the flow of water but that too is not the point. I drive my Jeep to work and I do not want to have to climb through a waterfall if it happens to be raining.

This is not accurate....my wife's 2015 Tahoe had NEVER had water leak in the door unless it was actively pouring down rain. It does not come in if the top has water on it and you open the door...and that is really not the point. For a car this expensive, you should not have water pouring into the interior and onto the dash like that.

This is the exact same thing that happens in the JK. After 11 years of driving mine though I would say it only happens maybe once or twice a year where I'm parked on enough of a forward angle that some water gets in. I've never been all that concerned about it and haven't seen it cause any water damage inside. If you park on that angle every day then maybe it could be a problem for you but I'm guessing for most people you'll forget it was ever brought up as an issue.

Where in TN are you? I’m in Nashville, looking for a good dealer.

You said I was not accurate but then validated it anyways....and yes its not the point I know. If your not willing to deal with it then there are a few suggestions.

Wait until they fix it (good luck on that)
Dont buy a hard top and see if that helps
Dont buy a JL..(or any Wrangler really because it happens on pretty much all of them)
Edit: Try an aftermarket hard top if/when those come out
