  1. Here's how you update your 8.4 to the latest version without bricking it

They clearly looked at the wrong TSB! Was frustrating because I told them up front and they put it in the notes but they must have found something else that just said go for it. Fingers crossed they replace it. I didn't freak out about it or anything which sometimes helps your case. After it...
  2. Here's how you update your 8.4 to the latest version without bricking it

Got the full brick experience today on my 2018 JLUR radio. I told them I had read this thread saying it needed to get to v22.64 (I was 22.61 of course) before going to v39.6 but their information said just go straight to it. Now we're waiting to see if Chrysler will approve a new radio for me...
  3. Just ordered my 392!

My exact thoughts too (except for the leather) after I saw that. Totally a personal choice but I've never liked the colored flares or hard tops for some reason. It's still year one and they're trying to limit options as much as possible it seems since they're building so few of them. Maybe it'll...
  4. Mopar Doors-off Mirror Kit announced for Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator

These were my exact thoughts when I first saw it! The base for the mirror looks exactly like the one on my old TJ (where the finish flaked off and oxidized in a few years). Too funny.
  5. 2018 JL Clutch Question

Well this sucks. I figured something was wrong because mine has been pretty rough lately and I was getting concerned. Had my TJ for 10 years on the same clutch, JK for 11 as well with no problems. Something is up with this one and in some ways it's nice to see it confirmed. Hopefully the...
  6. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Those garages in the background look very much like my hood (Cornell/Markham) but I'm not sure I've seen you around so I could be way off. We're both fairly easy to spot so I'll keep an eye out.
  7. What does your car really know about you?

This should be pretty dramatically impacted by the new California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) that just went into effect. It requires many businesses collecting personal data to allow you to request a copy of that data as well as opt out of the data being sold to another company without...
  8. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Well that sucks for me too! I've got the same tailgate reinforcement kit and just purchased the same Taillight guards but haven't installed them yet. Hopefully I can still return the guards but they look really good so it's disappointing. Thanks for saving me some frustration though!
  9. Smoothest Riding 35 inch tire?

Yeah, was waiting for someone to throw this out there. It's an important consideration for sure. I've got the Ridge Grapplers and love how they ride. I don't notice much road noise at all, no more than the stock Rubicon tires. I'm running 26-28 I believe. In the summer I was heading up to the...
  10. right lift for me?

You don't but it does make a difference. I wasn't going to go for a lift since the 35's look great without it and it seemed to do alright on the trails. It wasn't until my buddy in my old JK with 2.5" lift followed me a couple of days on the trail where I bottomed out on the top of some rock...
  11. The endless dilemma soft top vs. hard top

Agreed. You can actually leave the roll bar brackets that the soft top pivots from on forever if you want and the other stuff is super quick to change in/out. The ease of the JL soft top is probably the single best thing I love the most versus my old JK and TJ. It is so easy to put up and...
  12. Anyone know what the small plastic half-sphere bubble on the top left center of the dashboard is for

That's so strange, I was just saying to someone on the weekend that I thought this function used to work that way but on mine it always shuts the lights right back off. It's especially strange when I'm going through some dark clouds and then back to sun. Might be a faulty sensor you've got.
  13. Jeep announces that 2018's will NOT get the Off-Road pages

I was excited to try this to see if it might make things run better. It worked easily enough although it didn't like the 128GB drive I tried first but was ok with the 32GB I tried. I just did it about a week ago but sadly things have been worse so far. While I haven't experienced the sound...
  14. Airport Security Didn't Like my FOB

Absolutely, I've flown 10+ times with it in the same pocket before and never had a problem. Just thought it was funny that they didn't look at anything else in the bag, just the one with the giant FOB. It was good for a laugh at the time. I also used to notice that it was setting off the...
  15. Airport Security Didn't Like my FOB

Since there has been much discussion about the size of the key FOB I thought I would fuel the fire with my story from last Monday. I was flying from Toronto to Nashville with a laptop backpack that had a lot of stuff in it (wallet, several chargers, HDMI cable, 20' network cable, phone...
  16. PUNK'N Wrangler Jl club

Local shop did it without even a question. They're really only .5" smaller than the recommended minimum and I saw so many others doing it I figured I'd take the chance. In hindsight I shouldn't have bothered upgrading the rims and just got new ones with the tires but whatever.
  17. Gas cap tether too short?

This cracks me up because it has driven me crazy for the last 6+ months and I couldn't believe nobody had posted about it. It's completely ridiculous and I can't believe it made it out of the factory like this.
  18. Audio system issue - cutting in and out

Yeah, who knows. I just got it again today and once again it was as soon as I plugged in my phone. The satellite radio had kicked in already but this time I was in reverse (with the clutch in). This time though I have what appears to be a new issue. I shut off the radio, went and filled up...
  19. Audio system issue - cutting in and out

I've only had this happen a few times but I feel like it's related to when I plug my phone/iPod into a USB port. I have a manual transmission so it's definitely not remote start related. If I wait to plug in my phone (to the USB-C) until after the system has started (maybe 15-20 seconds after...
  20. Fab Fours JL Wrangler Products & Builds [SEMA 2018 - JLWF Coverage]

I think that front bumper is probably my favourite one for the JL so far but I had the same one on my JK for 11 years so I'm biased a little. I still think it was the best one for the JK after all those years. I like the doors too but pretty much everything is a bit over the top for me.
