88 Bronco 2, started it all. Hand me down when I was a kid. First rebuilt engine, transmission. body work/paint I ever did. Even converted it to 4wd from a $200 donor. It taught me a lot, I miss it.

This is my old MK7 golf Günther. This lil guy saw me through and got me through alot of mess. I picked up Günther after I completed the lemon process on my renegade trailhawk as i was getting out the Marines. I worked numerous jobs while I had Günther but the coolest part was getting involved with the car scenes in Southern California. Westcoast dubs, shore shifters, sleepyboyz and numerous others. I'd also use him to help transport food to the food banks and shelters to. Moved halfway across the country for a guy with him (lesson learned ????). Then returned home for the first time in years with him and became Grounded. With hanging out with the Volkswagen community I got into working on my car and mods. I installed a lift kit from forge motorsports and new headlights from Osram. I was going to do a stage 2 tune but ended up totaling it after a night of partying and the rest tells itself, another lesson learned and still haven't forgave myself for it. My wrangler Kozie is an extension of him, I just like to think im wiser now.

I bought my first car at 16, it was a 1959 VW with 1400 miles on it. I got the car bug from my grandfather and started doing odd jobs at the age of 10. Six years later I bought the bug with a little help from my grandfather. My first 4x4 was a 1974 Toyota FJ40. It was unbelievably rugged and could go just about anywhere. It was not fast but a lot of fun to drive. It had an inline 6 with a 4 speed manual transmission. This photo is not the actual FJ40 but mine was just like this one. I just realized how long I have been driving, time goes by fast.

Here's the one that started it all for me. 1985 Monte Carlo SS. Bought the first time in 1991, sold it in '93. Bought it back from the same guy in '97, built a TPI 305 motor with the auto shop teacher at work and swapped it in 2000, then T5 conversion in '02, and finally stripped it in '03 on my driveway due to major floor and quarter panel rot.

I kept all the suspension and drivetrain stuff, then sold the interior, front clip, and other usable body panels. My wife bought me this clean roller '88 SS for my 30th bday in 2003. I had a thing for white Monte SS's as you can see - the other was a stock '87 SS that was my daily driver. Both had burgundy interior. We started the drivetrain and suspension swap in the spring of '04 - seriously, that was already 20 years ago?? WTF??

I built a ZZ4-cammed 355 and swapped it in '06 (on the driveway, of course), and kept it another 5 years. I sold it in 2011. I still miss it sometimes, but I'm glad I passed the car bug on to my son. He worked on this car with me and rode around to cruise nights when he was really little. He's almost 21 now and has a JLUR and a '91 LX 5.0 convertible that I get to steal sometimes.
