So i bought this transfer case off a member here, who said he ran it in his V6 8AT Willys.

i took it to a local shop and they said that it wont bolt in and that its not right the part #

the sticker is missing but i found where the part number is engraved. Its kind of hard to read but it looks like 68248441AC unless that second 8 is actually a zero, which would actually be correct, since the part number with an 8 is not for a transfer case.

Looking at pics of other rubicon transfer cases it looks the same.

looking at an ad on ebay from an oem parts dealer it seems to be the same. It says the AC version replaces the AA, AB, AD versions.

Is this the correct part? And this well known shop is flat out wrong??

If he got it from him that’s good news.
That’s 100% a zero. It’s got the slash through it and that’s exactly why that’s done. It’s to ensure a zero isn’t confused with another number or the letter O.

that's what i thought when i looked at it some more lol. just that the 8 and 0 look a lot alike....
thank you for your reply.

so it should be the right TC then. this is a known and respected shop. yet theyre saying it wont bolt in and they'd have to modify it to make it work....? i have to call them again tomorrow to ask them why its not working. i dont recall the specifics.... unfortunately i cant really find any detailed threads on installing a rubi TC into a Sport. just people saying theyve done it.

Hola.

I never sold my transfer case…. Haha.

I’m not sure where this one came from. If it doesn’t just slide on like butter, then you need to double check you didn’t get one from a Manual Trans.

Did they take any pictures or tell you what was off?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but they did remove the T-case input shaft housing off the trans, right?

I was thinking that, too. If it’s an auto transfer case going on and coming off, they had to have done one of two things. Didn’t take it off at all or took the wrong hardware out.

There are full-time and part-time transfer cases. AT may not mean auto trans but full time 4wd
I made that mistake had to return at my costs and order the correct unit. I replaced my 2020 Sport JL V6 auto with a used Rubicon from ebay. They supply a table that matches your VIN That 4:1 ratio is really helpful at Sand Hollow and Moab

i dont even know how to address that with a shop that does all the stuff they do.

if i call and speak to their head tech, what should i ask him, specifically.

based on the pics and the part number this looks like the correct TC right? So it seems most likely whomever at the shop worked on it doesnt know what theyre doing..

It looks like the input shaft housing is integral to the case on the MP3022 full time case:

From the tear down procedure, the extension housing pulls with the planetaries, so I don't think they pulled that off.

Maybe @chevymitchell can create a how-to thread and i can send it to the shop lol
Steve, I'm going to DM you the remove and reinstall procedure for the 1622 so you can see it.

Once you know how it goes in/out, I'd ask him what specifically doesn't match up bolt pattern wise.
