Dumb question but did you have the dealer replace the steering gearbox as part of the “wandering steering” recall? Eh?

Don’t ask me why I ask this…….

You've done it right when a forged pitman arm is your steering circuit breaker, lol.
Yeah that’s why I said in an earlier post that it was the weak point in my steering 😂

I knew I was cooked when I shortened the drag link as much as possible and the steering wheel was still off center.

immediately after I rammed the tree with the tire, the steering wheel was about 160 degrees off center

I had them apply the TSB to a steel box before my warranty ran out. It helped but I think installing a decent steering damper (Fox 2.0) did much more.

The reason I asked is my pitman arm and connecting ball joint got “modified” by the dealer when they swapped the steering box out…..

Some of the original aluminum boxes were worse than others. Mine was very loose, but then so was the trackbar bushings. My first mod was to install a SteerSmarts Yeti Pro trackbar with poly bushings. That alone took half the nearly half turn of slop out of the system. In spite of all the doomsday worry warts, I then adjusted the original steering box as tight as I could without binding. The steering was pretty good. I could still feel a small amount of slop, maybe 3/4" (with OEM 33 BFG K02 tires). Later, when the new steering boxes became available, they were backorders, so I waited until my warranty was about to expire and had the new steering box installed. It did tighten that last bit up.

Electric pump (turned up with Apex boost kit) and hydro assist
So, I have the Apex kit with the cooler installed. I like it for what it is. I didn't have any "stuck steering" issues on the Rubicon trail or a couple other trails, that used to happen all the time.

How do you feel about the hydro assist on the highway?

I’m on tons and 42s so hydro was a requirement. I preferred to keep the electric pump so PSCs EHPS kit included the apex boost kit and used a different box than their “big bore” box that gets paired with a mechanical pump.

The hydro is unnoticeable on the highway (to me). Wife doesn’t have any complaints about it either and she daily drove it for 3 years before I turned it into a dedicated toy

Yes, my 2019 wasn't bad but 2 months before the warranty ran out, I cited the exact words in the TSB to the dealership which stated they must replace. I'd already installed a JKS trackbar back when they did the steering damper recall. My steering was never terrible but the not-so-cheap steering damper upgrade has made it really nice to drive on long trips.

Weird request, but looking for some shots of your pitman arm from the front (not bottom or side, just straight on)

I think I might’ve bent mine but I don’t really remember what it looked like prior.

here’s what it looks like for reference:

Prior to what? Is your steering wheel straight?

All of this info is in my other messages in the thread, but, prior to running into a tree with my passenger tire. And no, my steering wheel isn’t straight
