Permanent tire size update and tazer mini

Planning on getting a tazer mini for some convenient updates, down the line I will upgrade tires to 37s.

I understand I will then need to recalibrate speedometer and tire size when I do this, I plan on having the dealer do this.

My question is if these settings will stay permanently in the jeep regardless of how many times I marry and un-marry the tazer afterwards.

thinking yes but want to confirm.

No, the setting will not be retained when you unmarry the Tazer JL.

Use JSCAN to do the setting and the setting will be retained as there is no unmarry with JSCAN.

You can still get a Tazer JL and enjoy the many features it offers.. Do your speedo calibration, gear settings, etc. with JSCAN first, then marry the Tazer JL. Now when you unmarry the Tazer JL, the settings you changed with JSCAN earlier / whenever, will still remain.

Unless the dealership Service Dept. is doing this deed for free, I think you would be being very very $wise foolish, to let the Service Dept. do that deed.

say that I am, is it then permanent for that $125 vs me having to re-do each time?

How easy/quick is it to recalibrate afterwards?

I’m pretty busy so i may not have time to re-marry right after dealer visits, so wanting a permanent solution for this.

I use ECRI. It's not the least expensive nor most expensive. It doesn't have the most features.
But it works very well for something like a permanent tire size change. It even has a GPS feature that figures out what the tire size calibration needs to be for the speedo calibration.

Jeep Wrangler JL – JScan

For me, JSCAN has worked out very well. The re-gear ratio and tire size was simple to recalibrate. Also, I used JSCAN to toggle my change to OEM LED turn/DRLs and fog lights. I've probably used it for other things as well. It also acts as a code reader/reset device. Seems like I paid less than $100 for the JSCAN app, the bluetooth wireless OBD2 bridge, and the security gateway bypass connector. Settings changed by JSCAN are retained even if JSCAN is disconnected. JSCAN is a great bargain IMO.

At this point my Tazer is semi permanent. Tire diameter per manufacturer's sheet, new axle ratio, and GPS speed check was the most accurate. Both agreed when stable. I tried measuring from the floor to the top of the tire. That through off the speedo by 2 mph.

Same method as I used. Dead nuts on.

If you have the dealer make the changes, then yes they are permanent; regardless of your Tazer. However for the same $$$’s, you can buy an jscan and a dongle and do it yourself, also permanent. The jscan will also be useful for many other things, including reading DTC’s.
