Had the same noises, lub helps perfekt, no issues any more, thank you very much for this tip
Just confirmed this is exactly the same location my noise is coming from, I can feel it too when I put a finger on it and hit the headrest. Jeep Cares, this should help when working with dealerships, replacing the seat rail is not going to fix this. It is clearly in the upper seatback portion of the seat. WD40 did not work on mine, I will wait for a TSB or something to come out for it.

I just picked up my jeep from the third service visit for this issue. they replaced the seat frame but there is no improvement at all in the noise and looseness of the reclining seatback. so I scheduled a 4th appointment for Thursday...

UPDATE 5: Got the Jeep back yesterday morning. First time I had a passenger in it was this morning. THE NOISE IS BACK!!!! This is unbelievable. I called the dealer I purchased the Jeep from (40 minutes from my house, 70 minutes from my work) and asked if they could take over the issue and find a solution. They informed me that Chrysler would NOT pay another dealer to try and remedy an "open warranty issue" that was started by another dealer!! What kind of customer service is that?!?!? I have a call in to the JOKERS at the place where I brought it to be fixed (1 mile from my work) to see what they say. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!!

I agree WD40 is not the right product for this application, but it is what I had on hand to test with and resolved my issue. Hopefully Jeep will have a real fix for this in the future.

Got Jeep back and have not had a chance to fully but appears to be fixed! Only bad part they put a good scratch down to the bare metal on door jam! I’m easy to please and just happy seat seems fixed... it’s a Jeep and the scratch adds character. Just gotta get some touch up paint so it does not rust.

Hey all, just wanted to chime in here since I had the exact same issue and got it replaced without issue —

The problem was that the lower seat rail needed to be replaced. Also, when they were replacing that, they found that the top seat rail had a stripped bolt and so they replaced that as well since it stripped the threads in the rail.

Hope this is useful and that everyone is able to get their issue fixed properly!

it took a few tries but the dealership fixed my front passenger seatback looseness and noise.

they first tightened the seat track bolts and greased the hinge joint as described earlier in the thread. this had no effect.

next, they replaced what I think is the seatback frame (68276609AC). this did not improve the issue, and may have made it a little worse actually.

on my last visit, they replaced the seat bottom frame (68276600AD). this completely fixed the issue. the seatback is tight and noise is gone.

it took a few tries but I commend the dealership for diligently working on it until fixed. I will take all of my service needs to them in the future.

for folks struggling to find a good dealership, @JeepCares gave me this advice which I used to locate and switch to this dealership:
"You can enter your zip code here to view all certified Jeep dealerships in your area: https://www.jeep.com/find-dealer.html. If you see any dealerships that have received a Customer First award this means that this dealer has achieved the highest level of customer experience recognition in five core areas: people, facility, processes, customer metrics and training certification."

This is not a complaint about my dealership, so far I am very happy with their communication and service. (Elk Grove Dodge)

I dropped off my Jeep April 24th. They confirmed the problem by the end of the day as well as an air leak in the freedom panel fit, and an alignment issue where the vehicle drifted to the right. I was told all parts were ordered and would be in the following week. I returned the rental car because I was going on a holiday anyway.

Today I received a call that everything BUT the seat was fixed and the seat parts are on back order with no delivery estimate so I should pick up the Jeep and continue to drive it. In my passenger seat is not just a noise but a clunk feeling that had progressed from a minor sound to a obvious knock and movement in the seat in the short time I had it before leaving it for repair.

Based on the forums I have read this appears to be an assembly and sub-par parts problem with the 2018 JL model Jeeps. I am really surprised that since this started becoming apparent 8 months ago, JEEP has not ramped up the production of replacement parts and put out a recall.

Is it going to take someone driving their Jeep with a bad seat, having an accident, and a passenger flying out of the Jeep due to a failed seat part before they take this issue more seriously?

Pound me too.
Just started with 10,000 miles. UGGG!. Every time I make a slight turn with an occupied passenger seat its there. For the first few days I thought something was rolling around in back. Then I saw this thread and can't wait to get it in to the dealer.

I was able to fix this problem on my 2018 JLUR by doing the following, you are welcome to try at your own risk.

To troubleshoot the issue, I removed the back panel from the seat and had someone rock the seat side to side until I located the noise/vibration with my hand.

Note: you may not need to remove the back of the seat to fix the problem, but I did.
  1. Remove the back of the passenger seat.
    1. Un-do the two black elastic bands from the bottom of the seat, they will be attached to two white hooks.
    2. Flip-up the flap you just unhooked, and take note the two screws on either side.
    3. Remove the two screws.
    4. Starting at the bottom with you hands placed on either side of the panel, tug gently towards you working your way up the back of the seat. The seat back should pop off with gentle force.
  2. Locate the problem area as indicated in my pictures.
    1. position some paper towels or a rag around the work area to catch the excess WD-40
    2. Apply a light amount WD-40 to the spot where the flat plate meets the cylinder.
    3. Have someone rock the seat while you are applying the WD-40, so that it works itself into the joint.
    4. You should hear the sound go away some rocking.
  3. Re-install the back of the seat, if you removed it.

Hope this helps.
UPDATE 6: I took matters into my own hands and utilized the "VentTekk Method"...bought a $7 can of CRC White Lithium Grease and lubricated the area mentioned. Well don't ya know, the popping is gone!! Took all of about 3 minutes to complete the fix. Thank you, VentTekk!!! For the record, all I did was fold the bottom fabric flap up. I did not have to remove the plastic seatback. I'm a happy camper again!

Glad it helped someone. I think we need a KB for these fixes. It seems like there are at least 3 different seat issues with squeaking and popping sounds.
