Dude I would honestly keep the rear seat in ours if it stayed in place when you folded it forward. We rarely need the entire back free for a load of groceries or whatever else we throw back there, but having the seat flopping up and down is just annoying.

Use the Velcro straps to hold it to the anchor points behind the two front seats!

The flopping is annoying, and can be quite jarring at times!

The backseat of our 2-door is stored in our basement most of the time. My Jeep family has mixed opinions on the backseat. I sat back there once for a short 10 minute ride and got very claustrophobic, almost to the point of having a panic attack. My short/small (5'0" 100 lbs) wife has no problem sitting back there.

Me, too. 2018 Rubicon. Also, I don’t have to slide seats back to make them go forward.

I have 17, 20, and 22 year old kids that ride back there (only two at a time, obviously). The boys are tall. Getting in and out sucks, but once in they’re comfortable enough.
I find access to the back seat is easier without a top.

Just step up on the tire and over into the back seat... oh wait, no back seat. So only one passenger for me. ?

I’ve always treated my wranglers as a 2 seater. Drove a Tr6 through high school in the seventies so was always used to just one passenger, usually a lady friend. Much cozier that way!

On the topic of having to slide the seats all the way back.... On my 2022 the original seat position return mechanism that lives in the channel of the outboard seat rail, it would allow the seat to return the the driver position that it was in prior to folding the seat forward to allow rear passenger ingress. That mechanism exploded (like many others). I ordered a new one and its the correct (new) part number but it does not function like my original seat, I now have to push the seat all the way back to get the seatback upright, then I have to re set my driving position. It kind of sucks compared to the "memory" function of the original part. Maybe all the newer two doors use this new part as the old one was pretty much guaranteed to fail.
The part that failed on mine was a little plastic J hook. The only way to get the memory function back was to replace the whole bottom seat pan, it was about $300. Hard pill to swallow but I had broke it by putting too much weight on the seat back. It's not a bad job, but take pictures as you go for reference.

Every thread on passengers in the back of a 2door needs to remind Jeep to make it a split rear seat that allows one half installed, one half removed/stored, so we can take one passenger back there with storage on the side. ?
That would be so nice.
For me, it's often like a river-crossing riddle shuttling kids with different schedules and multiple sets of sports gear. (And ... no. I'm not trading the JL for a minivan. The puzzle solving is just something to keep my brain sharp while my kids are enjoying the ride!)

I would love that. The only issue I can think of is that the way the current bench seat is secured involves the anchor points on both the far left and right sides of the cab. They would need to add another central row of anchor points somewhere in the middle of the cab for the bracket of each seat. Not necessarily an issue, just not quite as simple as popping in splittable seats.

I actually use the back seat for passengers at least once a month, but usually have the seat folded up and secured with just the passenger side velcro strap. Would be nice if it just locked into place when folded!

It does suck that the newest TSB removes the previous seat track memory position...Seems like Jeep needs a better engineer to redesign the tumble forward mechanism of the seats.

It will be interesting to see how or if they implement the tumble forward feature on the driver side of the '24 Ruby-X that has an 8-way power driver seat...At first I was disappointed that only the driver side of the 2-door had power seats and then I remembered how you need to get in the rear seat and was relived it was not power!

Random thought I've thunk, and decided to post after reading another thread:
Could/does "memory stone" affect the slant of the seat, and not its position along the floor track?

You can fold it half way - so the seat back is horizontal and use it like a shelf to put things on.
The key is to take the velcro straps, spin them 180, and attach to the tie down loops in the BACK of the jeep.

or if you want it tumbled all the way forward securely (not flopping around) you can use the same velcro straps to attach to the silver lugs on the B pillar.

For those who are not automotive nerds:
- A pillar is the first vertical pillar and is usually attached to the windshield.
- B pillar is behind the front seat
- C pillar is the next upright piece of steel going toward the back
- etc.

Another option. I like running my Jeep with a tonneau cover in summer while keeping the rear seat in place vs. removal for when I have passengers. Jeep configured the rear seat to flip forward, not 1/2 way. To keep the seat folded in 1/2 position, I used two small bungees (8-10") and attached them as photos. I lifted the seat in the first photo to show bungee attachment points. This solution prevents the seat from rocking and allows me to use a tonneau cover or covert back with passengers.

You guys really don't have to slide back your seats to get them upright? I know my manual says I'm not supposed to need to do it. I don't want to take it to a dealer, but that would be a major improvement.
We couldn't/can't even put a cooler in the rear foot well when the backseat was flipped forward. Plus ... passengers getting their legs smashed.
Maybe I'll have my kids make a video and see if it looks right to you guys before I take it to the dealership and they tell me it's user error
I have a 2025 2 door sport and have the same issue.
