Anyone has a picture or description of how exactly to run a wire from battery to inside via passenger side cowl? Can this be done without lowering the windshield?

I see there is some sort of foam thingy where the drainpipe comes out, but it's fairly thick foam, not sure making a hole in it would allow water ingress or not.

I am aware there is a grommet on the driver side, not using it since I have every panel on the passenger side opened, it would suck to do the same on the other side.

'26 392 if that matters.

Below is the picture of the drain pipe under the side cowl

Take the bolts holding your windshield out and fold it slightly forward and pass them through next to the drain tube. I have my GMRS antenna run at that exact place and then ran it up the a-pillar to a molle panel above our heads.

I’ve run a few wires there and use one hand to lean the windshield forward slightly and another to feed the wire through. I feed a flat fish tape through from the interior and attach the wire then pull it back through. Maybe simpler ways to do it.

welp... I removed the 4 interior bolts but the windshield wouldnt budge. did some more reading and looks like this is far more bigger project when you have a SOT.

With my skill, I am pretty sure I will end up pinching some rubber seal and get water in.

nope nope nope

I'm assuming you don't have the Aux switches?

I just removed the plastic side cowl and fed the wires through that way. Real easy
that part has been open for a while, but the foam inside is super thick and I am not sure what the implications are for poking a hole in it.

Bookmarking this post for X amount of years from now when some guy comes in here and says he bought a used JL with wiring coming up through the drain plug that is filled with RTV.

Does the 392 firewall not have the same little plastic port in the firewall as every other JL?
it does, the accessible one is on the driver side, the story is there is another one right behind the battery. I was dead set on running this from the passenger side. I dont remember why I was dead set on this, I am sure there was a reason when I started all this.

I donno man, right now I am standing around, staring at a piece of plastic in my hand, scratching my bald head to figure out where the hell it goes.

life is so colorful
