I've shifted one of my motorcycle pre-flight habits to the Jeep: every few drives, I'll check the functioning of the Oracles to ensure continued and correct functioning. I'd be fibbing if I said that posts like yours didn't originally motivate me to do so. ;)

As much as I like the Oracle lights, if or when they depart this Vale of Tears, I'm reinstalling the OEM tail lights and calling it a day.
I found these

Add mine to the list of dead Oracles. Passenger side would randomly dim now I’ve lost most of the LEDs. Unfortunately I got mine from a member here so I don’t expect warranty help.

They lasted about 2 years.

Something positive, I purchased my taillights back in April 2023 and last month (Jan '25) my right side stopped working (all but backup light). I contacted Oracle last week and they shipped a new set under warranty.

Technically I am past the one year warranty so very much appreciative of the customer service! Hopeful the issue with these has been rectified and this set will last the life of my JLR

That was similar to my experience:

Last year, the original pax-side tail light spontaneously developed very dim parking light illumination...so much so that it was evident only at night. I reached out to Oracle, who then provided an out-of-warranty replacement tail light for just the cost of shipping. 👍

right side, right side, right side, guess why.
the tail gate hinge swing arm is getting caught up in the wiring and pulling on it (and flexing the harness)
ask me how I know, I caught it during my install and zip tied the wiring out of the way.
AND the wiring in not secured to the device which is bizarre to me.
any soldered connection will fail over time due to vibration and the wires flopping around
call me crazy

Thank you for that feedback. Keen observations. We are looking into it.

A fair point, and possibly a related factor in some instances. I noticed the same risk during installation, and took due care to ensure the tailgate guide arm didn't foul the wiring, and vice versa. That was a fussy process, as there isn't much working room. Maybe some owners aren't as careful as you and I were.

I performed a post-mortem on my own pax-side flush mount taillight, the one that had pivoted to permanent parking light dimness (and was replaced as I mention above.)

All individual wires appeared to be intact, and fully seated in the related connector. I didn't discover any wire strain or other physical damage that might've been contributive here. This suggests a failure of the related electronics, although I've not disassembled the light housing to the degree necessary to test that theory. At this point, there's no call to do so.

Anyone have experience with their lights not working properly?

Mine have seems to stopped working all of a sudden in a funny way

Lights off on switch, the rears work just fine, hazards, brake lights, etc

Lights on on the switch, hazards don’t work, neither do the turn signals or brake lights. I’ve changed the settings to LED tail lamps in the settings but it still persists.

Are the harnesses connected, in the sense if one resistor shit the bed, it wouldn’t allow the other side to work?

I've been considering these lights, for when I go from 37s to 38s and my spare will require my custom fuel can bracket to move another 5/8" toward the tail light which now has zero clearance from the OEM LED tail light. But the reliability seems sketchy.

They’ve been working great for me for a few years, i’m just not sure when this started.

I’ve tried so far
  • unplugging one side at a time
  • swapping taillights to opposite sides
  • unplugged the resistor from each(there’s corrosion on the plugs on each so maybe they haven’t been working in a good bit
  • changed the following settings in JSCAN: LED Turn lamp present, LED Stop Lamps present, LED Reverse lamps present, LED tail lamps. Before this was unchanged as i never had issues with them working before
Just odd that they both don’t work. I ordered a new headlight switch as precaution as well. My dad and I were talking about it, but i don’t have high hopes.

My second theory is that something shorted in one of the lights and i’m not sure if it the BCM sees both tail lights as a completed circuit and maybe it’s just defaulting to be being on without flashing or anything. It’s just odd as normally when turning on the lights it’ll be at something like half brightness until tapping the brakes, but it’s as if they’re both stuck at full brightness.

Interesting, I’m hoping it’s an issue with my oracle lights and not some wiring harness in the jeep. I wish I still had my stock lights to test out however.

I did check the harness and aside from it being dirty and the resistor connectors having some corrosion I didn’t see any evidence of the tailgate arm hitting the harness.
