I purchased this lift kit for my 2019 JLU with a 2.0 gas. I use the Jeep as a daily driver. I want to just go to 35's and not ruin the daily drivability.
Question 1 is this lift any good. I can not find any reviews on it
Question 2 will this kill the daily drivability with 35's

My wife is about to strangle me because the box is just sitting in the basement

Hello. You have asked a question for which there are as many opinions, probably more….way more, than the sum of individual components for your lift.

So here is my opinion. My wife and I have a ‘20 Sahara. Picked it up on Sept 5, 2019. Now has just over 60k miles on it. It’s my daily driver.

I have the Mopar lift with 35’s. They are TOYO Open Country A/T II XTREME (35X12.50RTLT). Total elevation change of 5.5”.

I HAVE ZERO ISSUES, with drivability. It’s the most enjoyable vehicle that I have ever owned. Does it drive like at sedan? NO. Does it drive like a mid-level SUV? NO. It’s not supposed to.

My previous daily was a 2013 Toyota Highlander. Great vehicle. Great ride. Great quality. With that said, I did not anticipate that the Jeep would ride the same as the Highlander. I will say, that there is actually less of a difference than I anticipated which still surprises me. But I much prefer the Jeep.

For our Jeep, we have done some mild off roading, no rock crawling. Mainly a back roads country cruiser. So it sees it’s share of gravel, dirt, pavement, and even creek beds.

I would do it again in a heart beat.

Concerning gas mileage, for the duration of 60k, I am setting at just over 22 mpg with out 2.0 turbo.

Good luck. Happy jeeping!!!!!

The ride post-lift is going to depend on a lot of things. Moving to 35’s puts you in to the “next level” in terms of rotational tire/wheel weight, lift height, and other things. Usually when you get up over three inches of lift, you may need to consider drive shaft upgrade, and you will definitely want to look into longer lower control arms to correct your castor angle. It’s all a matter of physics. Neither of those are in your kit.

And then there’s the next question of regearing- which can easily become its own thread of endless discussion and debate around here!

And depending on the type/weight of your 35’s and wheels, you may want to consider a spare tire relocation and support bracket for the back tailgate.

If you are not going to be doing a lot of heavy off-roading/rock crawling, maybe don’t go up so high? I don’t think you need 3.5-4 inches just to clear 35 inch tires, especially for a daily driver. ?‍♂

And finally, regarding your wife being close to strangling you… not sure on that one…. Maybe give her a lift?

This is not a good kit for what you’re wanting out of your rig. You see in the description where it says 3.5-4”, it will definitely be closer to 4”. That’s a lot of lift for 35s. This kit uses cam bolts for caster correction but it will only put it in the low end of spec. It will wander all over the road on the highway. The components are cheap and do not have a very good finish on them. Rust will definitely be in your immediate future.

I installed the 6” version on this’ll a lady’s gladiator, and the control arms had surface rust on them right out of the box….

I recommend that you look at 2”-2.5” lifts, they’re better suited for 35s on this JL platform, and sell the skyjacker to someone you don’t like very well………?

I don’t mean any of this as a criticism, only observation…

It sounds like you bought this lift and want 35s only for cosmetic reasons. I think if you “needed” the extra ground clearance for off roading you would have already installed it.

Based on your question, you are mainly concerned about on road ride and manners.

Sell the lift kit.

Use the money to buy a more aggressive looking AT tire no larger than 285s. If you can swing it, add some custom wheels as well.

Leave the suspension alone and continue to enjoy your custom jeep

This lift is way too tall for 35’s and missing important parts for alignment correction. No.

Just remember, the OEM suspension was developed at a high cost by the mfgr, the aftermarket kits for only a fraction of that. You figure out which one is going to be best for a primarily road driven machine. Based on what you’ve said, a stock Jeep on 33’s will do anything you are wanting/ planning to do. If you must have “the look” you’ll almost certainly be better off with a Mopar 2.5 for living with on a daily basis. The higher you lift one, the more that has to be done to maintain driveability (driveshaft angles, steering geometry adjustments, etc). It’s your nickel, so get what you want, just go in knowing up front there are trade-offs ( more $$ for tires, less mpg’s, potential handling issues, etc)

My son has the 2.5 Inch version of this lift on his 2019 JL Sport, It Sucks. Plain and simple. We drove it from Columbus, Ohio to Havelock, NC. Son got out of Marines and had everything in storage. Straight there and straight back. Stopped in a Walmart to sleep 2 hours. Took turns driving. Don't know what was worse, driving or riding shotgun. You feel every little bump. Handling sucks, all over road. Got back and told my wife I needed 2 days to recover from just the ride. My body was hurting.
