Opinions wanted... when to upgrade?

I'm also a proponent of upgrading before, as many times you can recoup some of the cost by selling the oem stuff, rather than none if you end up breaking it. And while aftermarket doesn't mean it won't break, it should make it tougher to break vs oem if you bought the parts from a reputable company.

Are the people who upgrade their rigs for the trail, even though these vehicles will never see the trail, wrong or incorrect in doing their upgrades?
