Opinion on Trektop NX Vs Glide

I don't love the look of the soft top. Particularly in safari mode, but I can overlook it. I'll be slightly disappointed if Bestop actually does make it but spring, but I'll be furious at them and myself if I didn't have a top.

Plus, I was wanting the glide anyways and that doesn't even seem like a thought yet, so I'd be settling with the standard Trektop in the first place!

Been keeping on eye on these! The biggest draw for me was the price. But at least on quadratec site, when I select the premium twill, it goes up to 1300 from 900 for the NX. And that doesn't have fully down feature either. The glide does but when I see the JK versions, it seems to require 2 people if you don't want to struggle. I'm guessing the price for the premium twill for the glide will not be too far from the OEM soft top ... in which case, given it looks like OEM soft top can be done nearly 1 handed by single person, that might be the way to go. Once the options are available, it'll either be the NX basic cloth or the other end of spectrum OEM based on the pricing for now. We'll see if it changes.

@BestopTeam I just spoke to someone at bestop because I had a couple questions about shipping and if charges come off now or when it ships.

Anyways, the person I spoke to was pretty confident that the standard Trektop might not be out by spring. Does this sound right? I certainly hope not...

Well, that is good news for everybody that's waiting. I wish the rep that I spoke to last week would have indicated that. Or even indirectly hinted at it. But instead, he said we would be lucky to see the tops ship by beginning of spring! I even told him I'd rather have that top than the factory soft top and if it was coming out as expected then I would just wait. He insisted it was still in development phase.

I don't remember unfortunately. Just glad they are shipping. A friend just bought a JLU, so I'll let him know they will be shipping soon. Maybe I'll love it and buy one anyways!

I contacted @BestopTeam on instagram regarding the Glide release - and they stated that there are no plans to make a Glide for the JL right now.

So utterly disappointed.

I may have to wait for a competitor, unfortunately. A soft top that doesn't fold back entirely defies logic.

Yes we make the OEM tops. I can not speak to what our contract lists, sorry.

Bestop makes great tops so much so they make the OEM.

Having said that, friendly competition is good, I hope a competetor rises in in this space and seizes on the speed to market. Our jeeps shouldn’t be controlled by one vendor.

I know I'm jumping into this a little late but if anyone is questioning the quality, be assured the Bestop NX twill softop is incredible. Worth the price difference, imo. I had one on my 2013 JK Unlimited and also on my 06 TJ, which I still have. The insulation and versatility is above expectations.
