The 2 companies just made specific arrangements to upgrade their system for the OHV mapping etc, all 2021 and newer jeeps will get 6 mos free trial, I believe it must be requested for those that fits...

Been in my Mopar dashboard for a while now. Looks more like it is specific to Jeep wave members:

I did this in August.

I even have a reminder on my phone in February to turn it off.

pardon, but why? It's reviews, besides yours has been very positive...also, my initial comment should have read that OnX and jeep agreed to make OnX better (upgrade maps, downloadables etc) so it fits jeepers needs more, not as much hunter oriented....lastly, what are you moving to for your NAV needs?

Well, honestly I use Google for nav. I'll know the area I'm going to and will download that map.

I'm happy to hear OnX and Jeep are coming together to make it more big rig friendly. It's pretty lacking in Idaho at least.

And I have it set to cancel as I haven't seen the value in my $30 or more, even for the year.

I just wanted to add that I upgraded my phone and when setting up the Apple Car Play OnXOffroad now has Apple Car Play integration. The maps can be loaded into the nav screen now.

thanks, good to know. I'm still waffling between the OnX and Gaia systems....just to confuse the issue some...using the Insane audio Head unit, they were having problems with the NAVengine, has that been resolved, that unit seems like dead weight if it's just a radio....point being, Onx or Gaia on a 9" screen would be excellent for my old eyes...thanks again for the input, it all helps.

Oh look, another company looking to get into my pocket to make monthly withdrawals...

Sorry, I don’t mean to be cynical, but I’m tired of these companies dreaming up new schemes to suckle off my wallet indefinitely.

I dunno, perhaps it is a generational thing. But if I can’t pay for it outright, or can’t have my business pay for it, I’m just not interested.

Actually, I agree with that, hence trying to be as careful as possible before i throw my money at something, lol, not much to throw!

This is the way I went. I just got an email informing me I'm half way through my free 6 month membership. I probably won't keep it, I'm tired of companies in my pocket on a subscription basis. I've made it my goal to relieve myself of these parasites.

In theory, I agree, unfortunately even getting offgrid requires some grid, haha

So how does the Android Auto integration actually work? With Google Maps, if I open the app on my phone, the app opens on the Jeep's screen, and the phone version of the app no longer functions.

Now that OnX is officially compatible with Android Auto, nothing seems different as far as I can tell. I checked that I have the latest version. I can't find any combination of magical incantations that get it to talk to the Jeep.

Maybe it only works with the big nav screen? I have the medium sized screen. I would dearly love to get OnX up onto the bigger screen, as I use it frequently. It does a good job of filling in the gigantic gaps left by Google Maps.

I don’t see how you can complain about something that clearly requires an ongoing service.

It’s like buying a house then complaining about utility bills.
