Working near Butler, PA this week. Co-worker mentioned this historical marker was just down the road. Stopped to take a picture and thought I would share. Enjoy!

That's cool! I like coming across these little bits of history that aren't mentioned in larger articles. And for you to be there by coincidence is great! All you ever read about is Kaiser and the multitudes of others that have owned Jeep. In my opinion AMC did the best job bringing it into the 70's with the CJ's before Chrysler took over and brought it to 80's standards, and now FCA has managed to bring it to a whole new level.

That's my hometown! There's a granite marker in the little park right across from the courthouse that tells of this. I've always loved and owned jeeps and sort of felt a "hometown pride" sort of connection to them. In fact so did my grandpa who spent a few years driving around in one.

Though his "off roading" was a little more intense than what I prefer.

There are several documentaries on YouTube that are informative and entertaining, especially for us Jeepers. Although Bantam created the Jeep, Willys and Ford manufactured the bulk of WWII Jeeps because they had the manufacturing capacity the army needed. Just search for "Jeep History."

So I happened to travel back to Butler to visit family. This morning I took a walk to the marker I mentioned. Let's see if I can attach them via mobile device.

Thanks for the history info! Maybe I will have to make a road trip once my Jeep is delivered!

Awesome info! Thank you for sharing. We seem to lose sight of why our jeeps exist in the first place. @Darter02, the picture of your grandfather is amazing. Clearly a man with balls of steel.

He was an interesting man to be brought up by, that's for sure! Red Foreman would have run from him.
