A good friend of mine recommended I stop messing with you, and show you what I made with my dad to put on my front porch.

No harm, now foul.

Also too it's probably safer bet than messing with you and getting banned.

While I don't have any religious or spiritual views myself, I do often appease my friends and family and respect their views. Including putting the Christ back in Christmas and placing it on my porch. However this was also an attempt by me to be lazy and not have to string up Christmas lights. For the next couple years until I remake this as a steel crucifix out of fence posts and such, I'll simply drop this on my porch after Thanksgiving, plug her in and call it a day.

I worked with a dude years ago, I like the saying he had. "I'm a recovering Catholic!" ?

? Pretty much sums it up.

If you want to, @JSFoster75 Hit me up in a conversation, I can share you a bunch of videos you won't like, but otherwise sum up my religious views.

I'm a recovering Independent Baptist, now non-denominational...

I saw someone handing out new sleeping bags to probably 20-30 homeless people in a nearby town this weekend. Glad to see there are people that have the heart to give without expecting something in return. They may only receive one thank you, but knowing you are doing someone to help your fellow "man" may mean that you are the one that receives the greater blessing.

I don't often hand out cash to strangers, but on occasion I feel a nudge to help someone and I try to do whatever my heart/conscience is telling me. I hope if I'm ever in their circumstance that someone would be willing to lend me a helping hand.

It is more blessed to give than to receive...
Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Let's try this again... ?

So if you live in North Texas, you know that there's a lot of unsavory people who just want your money.

It always irks me when I'm chilling at the gas station or at the grocery store waiting for the wife to come out with a few items, and someone comes knocking on my window with a sob story just asking for a couple dollars so they can get a meal or a gallon of gas to get home. I can't stand that sort of thing. I'm just not sympathetic to that cause. I work hard for my money, and the things I enjoy, and the things I have, and I'm not typically willing to give away money to strangers.

So... HERE'S THE FIX!!

An ex girlfriends brother would stand at a freeway off ramp in Kali with a sign "Will work for food", if he was offered a job he wouldn't take it. He was only interested in the cash people would give which he would buy drugs with. He eventually died from a drug overdose at the age of 40.
Keep in mind when you give cash you could also be contributing to a persons death!

I always find it funny that when I take my scout around for scout donation/sales/events I always make sure that he skips the houses with no soliciting, but other parents always tell their kids "that doesn't apply to us".

Common sense, Common courtesy, simple respect, honesty apparently largely dropped from the parental curriculum. My wife puts a large bowl of candy out for Halloween, kids grab a piece, then dad dumps the bowl in their bag. The kids that pushed a picture of a hamburger to ring up then goes tilt when given a nickel and two pennies to get a quarter back and says “no problem” if anything in response to “thank you”, etc etc…… Teach Your Children Well

I have a no soliciting sign on my front door, people still knock and try to pedal their product or service, that doesn't really bother me much, better than the bums BS stories they try to pull.

1. I'm a retired boxer, can't work because I've had so many concussions.

2. My daughter is at the hospital she just gave birth, her car is broke down, I need another $20 to get her car towed back home.

3. If you give me $20 I will mail you a check, I promise.

I've heard them all. I hand them $20 in prop money before they even start to tell me their bs story, it's just faster this way.

We have a group of homeless people who rotate standing at the main intersection about 2 blocks from our office. I have noticed, no matter what the weather, they always have the appropriate clothing. Rain gear, snow gear, you name it they have it. Also see them together, when one is going off duty and being replaced by another. Will meet up on the side of the road, pull out their iphones and check whatever. Always found it interesting for homeless people to be so well clothed.

We have a scrap guy, who goes through our metal dumpster. He knows all of them and tells me not to give them money. They are all drug addicts and spend all the money they get on drugs.
We also did work for a homeless shelter years ago. The director said almost all the people you see panhandling are drug addicts and not necessarily homeless.

I agree. It's either drugs or alcohol = winos and junkies. That's why at xmas time I pass out a few mini liquor bottles to the bums, no one has ever turned it down. It's usually " gee thanks! "

Many years ago when people still had Encyclopedias, this was before the Internet and you had to look up information in books. I had a guy come to my door during dinner. I opened the door and the first thing he said to me was "Do you want your child to succeed in life?" I said No and slammed the door in his face. If you start off a conversation with a question like that, you will get none of my time...
