Actually installed the wrong main battery as I didn’t know I had an etorque engine. Switched the H6 for an H7 and everything was back to normal. I took it to the dealership originally and they said to replace the mild hybrid battery was right under $2K.
Again it would have been under warranty so I’m surprised they gave you a quote.

This happened to me this month. ‘21 Sahara and didn’t know it was an 3.6L etorque. 48V battery replacement is $2K.
Surely you’re covered under the 8 yr/100k mile warranty on all hybrid/ev components?

Yes. It’s been a big learning experience for me.

I would probably rephrase it as a service advisor telling me how much it costs. He said there have been a few instances where something caused the warranty to be voided and that’s how much it was.

For the people replying about not knowing everything about how their vehicle works please enlighten us idiots exactly how your flat screen TV, computer and cell phone works. And while you’re at it, how does your microwave work?
Since I can buy a flatscreen for $100 bucks and I don't put my life in it's hands every day I don't give a $hit how it works. With that said I do know all of the features and how to set it up etc. Not even close to a fair comparison. When i am spending $35K-$60K on something and it is something that could kill me if I don't use it correctly then I am going to make sure I know everything I can. Do I know how to do an engine rebuild, nope but I sure as hell know what engine I have and its features.

Has anyone ever had the same problem. I own a 2019 Jeep Sahara. I love it, never had a problem, other than I did change the main battery once. So last week, when the battery died again, I figured it must be ESS battery causing in the issue. I figured it was draining the power from the main battery, so I went to replace both batteries. However, when I opened up the compartment, the ESS battery was not there. It was weird because not even the wire harness was there. There was nothing to connect to the battery, just the molded plastics seat where the battery should sit. So I just changed the main battery and the truck runs fine. Even stop & starts at lights, which I don’t know how. Anyway, i’m thinking about taking it back to the Jeep dealer and complaining that it must’ve never came with a battery. Is that possible? I mean no one has worked on the Jeep other than the dealer. The issue is I did have the bumper changed out, for a future wench and a subwoofer installed, but nothing under the hood. Is the dealer going to blame them for theft of the battery. Because who would take the wiring harness as well?
Sounds like you have the Etorque engine with the 48V battery underneath the Jeep for your ESS.
