Do you have any regrets about buying the Tazer mini? I'm on the fence.

I don’t believe in the tazer for the JL line. The JL is riddled with electrical gremlins and I feel the tazer only adds another layer of complexity to resolve anything. Many on here love it though. I am not one of them.

I do not regret the Tazer. However a couple things about it do irk me.

Pros:
  • Disable ESS, panic button, autopark, seatbelt chime
  • TurnCam
  • Activate front/rear cams at any time
  • Came in handy when I swapped my front halogen lights to LED.

Cons:
  • Kill3honk does not work reliably. You would think something so simple would be impossible to mess up, yet here we are.
  • Dark mode only works if you're stationary. Rendering the feature useless. What if I want to do some off-roading in NVG's?

In summation, disabling all the aforementioned nanny garbage made it more than worth it for me.

As for "JL Electrical Gremlins" ... I have none.
The only gremlin I am aware of is a software bug with the Uconnect 8.4". When using OEM Navigation, it totally screws up your audio, causing intermittent volume drops. The solution? Never use OEM Navigation.

EDIT (Clarification): The Uconnect 8.4 is a bug of its own. Nothing to do with the Tazer.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
I always pronounced it "regerts".

What kind of problems did you have with your Tazer? I’m still on the fence about getting one.

I bought the Tazer, and then later have used JScan to "permanently" correct for tire size & re-gear. I don't like the idea of having to un-marry and remove the Tazer, thus losing those corrections, for any dealer trips (which, fingers crossed, will never happen).

You feel it adds to another layer of complexity? Please expand on this with facts. Thanks

I’ve been using the Tazer JL Mini for 3+ years. Never disconnected it to take it to the dealer. Never had (knock on wood) any issues.
it’s a bit cumbersome to make adjustments and there are equally as good options (devices) that do the trick.
Good luck!

My biggest issue with the Tazer is that it messes with a really important magic black box that I don't have the skills to mess with myself, and that their slipshod user guide and sometimes buggy results make me wonder what other modifications have been made to my Jeep's brain(s) that might have been given the same level of attention.

I still have mine plugged in, and use Jscan also, but am considering if I could get away with using other products to get most of the features I'd like. It seems like a ripe market for a competitor to offer a quality, user-friendly product. I'd pay for it.

I have been considering a Tazr Mini primarily to get the rear camera activated when the turn signal is activated. But comments in this thread have given me pause. I already have the Auto Start/Stop plug-in(which is working flawlessly) but I would really like that cam mod but not at the expense of causing unintended cinsequences.
