I recently acquired the OBD2 box for the Tazer JL….however, I do not have the SGW bypass box/module.

Retail from Zautomotive shows the module for $70.

I was poking around on Amazon and found a SGW bypass cable for $17.

Basically I’m seeing if anyone has used one of these cables with the Tazer JL? It appears to take the place of the SGW bypass and then one plugs the Tazer into the OBD2 port of the bypass cable.

What did you buy.... What is a " OBD2 box for the Tazer JL…. "

Both the Tazer JL Mini and Tazer JL Lite have a built in security gateway bypass module.. so, you do not need Chrysler 12+8 cables or a ZAutomotive or ECRI dedicated security gateway bypass module

Also..... Tazer JL does not plug into the OBDll port it plugs into the security gateway.
Yes, the original Tazer JL did plug into the OBDll port but that offering is no longer sold by ZAutomotive.

So what I have is the Tazer JL, not the mini or the lite. This is the one that stays plugged into the OBD port. It is supposed to come with a separate SGW bypass box (which I don’t have), that would be installed under the kick panel.

So essentially, I’m seeing if anyone has used the cable, that I linked above, in place of the SGW bypass box.

OK... I hear you... Can tell you, I am very Tazer JL savvy.. I have owned the original Tazer JL like in your pic that needed the separate dedicated security gateway bypass module.

I strongly encourage yoy... NOT to go with / to use 12+8 Chrysler cables. They are bulky, known to be problematic....... and if you want to/plan to use live features, you want a dedicated, small footprint dedicated security gateway bypass module to leave hooked up all the time.

Go with either the ZAutomotive bypass module
https://www.zautomotive.com/product/z_sgw/

or the ECRI security gateway bypass module which will cost you less..

I also have an ECRI module holder for sale for cheap.. 8-) But a holder is not mandatory ...
I also have a Tazer JL holder for sale for cheap... along with the Tazer JL, it fits the ZAutomotive security gateway bypass module.
Thank you….that’s exactly the info I needed. I’ll just order the ECRI one to save a little $$. I got the Tazer module practically for free, so I’m not stressing about buying the gateway module.

I’ll skip the Chrysler dongle based on your info.
