Tazer/SGW/Scan Tool Question

I'm thinking about picking up an Icon T7 scanner. One of the claimed benefits is it's ability to work on FCA vehicles with a Secure Gateway (assuming you have the proper AutoAuth subscription). Would I be correct in assuming that since I have a Tazer plugged in at all times (SGW disconnected) I wouldn't need to worry about a scan tool being able to access the SGW?

Need a real code scanner to work on the wife's Tiguan, don't think the Tazer is gonna help with that
