We go up to the Ouachitas every 6 weeks so nothing too bad. We will likely start going a few mores places but we love the are we go to and will start including the Ozarks now that we won't be in a giant truck.
See if they are still Jeeping up in Disney OK, I used to go up there.

We sure do. Been there three times this year so far.

Try to avoid weekends the SXSs are out there. The big rock garden below the main damn has been torn up with some of the floods we had. Bring a saw or an axe, there are tons of dead trees washed into low spots.

My family is from a small town not far from Brokenbow, in fact, it's a days on a horse to Brokenbow. They came up from Texas to buy land, 4 of them and I think they each got 3000 acres.

My Dad was born in the back of a Buckboard wagon crossing the Red River. Granddad sold the Ranch due to the Great Depression and then the Dust Bowl was the last straw. Only 1 held of them held it together and he bought all the land (12k acres) as the brothers and sons gave up.

Dad retired in 62 from the Air Force and IIRC Grand Dad sold his acreage for 12 cents an acre. But it a clause in the Granddad or any direct descendant could come back and buy all it for 12 cents an acre. So we went there and spent about week and Granddad had died but my Dad was alive.

We drove all over it and my dad grew up there and did leave it sokd by his dad and my dad was 17 when they pulled put and went back to Texas. Never forget Dad was talking to the 'Old Man' who was still alive living in the house my Granddad had built. STILL did not have electric as he "feared it".

Dad told him I would pass on buying it 'cauise it still was not worth 12 cents an Acre. So we went to our ranch that Dad had bought back in the early 50s.

Get this: At age 10 or 12, Dad was not sure, but his Dad to him to Brokenbow to see a hanging in the town square. Cattle rustler! I asked Dad what he thought of the hanging. He said it told him stealing was not a career he wanted to follow.

THought you may get out my family Ok history.

Awesome story. I tell you what, I swear on our trip last month, I heard Banjos when I was in the middle of the K trail and it was getting dark. I really liked the signs that said "traps". That makes you feel so comfortable and I felt like had I got trapped, I would have been in for a hanging.

2. AC - haven't noticed that but I usually only have it halfway.
3. Hooks - this jeep hasn't been off road it's had some electrical issues since we've bought so no confidence in taking it on a trail.

You got the wrong answer on number 1...lol...

What model and what electrical issues.? You can't have a Jeep you don't trust.

JLU sport s - started with start/stop system. I would lose all the electronics, with the dash lighting up with all the warning lights going off and on. Went to the dealer 3 x all the while I was keeping a journal of what and when was happening. It was the c star connector ( i think that's what they called it) behind the glove box. Like a usb hub and the wiring was lose. So replaced that the main battery and the aux battery while they were at it. Probably will trade it once it's paid off. I miss the beast I had before this an 07 JK 2 door lifted with 315's, no electronics, never let me down until it reached 12 years old and 200,000+ miles.

You might get a lot of answers on your tire question. I would say talk to your local Jeep guys for recommended tires for your conditions. Here in Pa. I have personally wheeled on KO2s and have had good luck. I have wheeled them in mud, rock, and snow. Best tire for mud probably not, but good all around tire for rocks and wet condition for sure. I would say decent all around tire for on-road and moderate off-roading.
Tire pressure I would say the chalk test is your best bet. Tire pressure will very on your set up, weight of your rig loaded and unloaded, and wheel width would play into this. I am running Toyo Open Country M/Ts(35x12.50R17 load rating E) on Icon Rebound Pros (beadlock wheels, but not traditional beadlocks). I am sitting at 28psi on road, off road I am running 10psi or less. For non-beadlock wheels a good rule of thumb is the size of the wheel plus or minus a few psi.
For your A/C question, there shouldn't be any odd noises happening. If your looking for the dealer to be able to find it, I'd keep your fingers crossed. I can say my local Jeep dealer has a terrible service department.
And for your last question. I've never had an issue with the tow hooks personally, unless your wheels up which I hope not. The weight of the rope or winch line should drop and pull the shackle down (on the front bumper at least). Rear bumper is more of an issue, because it's sideways not vertical.
ALL OF THIS IS FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND OPINION. PEOPLE MAY HAVE DEFFERENT OPINIONS AND EXPERIENCE DEPENDING ON THEIR CONDITIONS ON AND OFF ROAD, SO TAKE MY POST AS YOU WILL.

Hello,

I have some basic questions I could use help with. I have always had sport cars and never really went wheeling until I purchased the TRX 1 year ago and got hooked. I have learned a lot about wheeling a giant truck but neither my wife and or I have ever owned a Jeep or really even hung out with any Jeep owners.

1. What are you running your tires at? We have the stock 35" KO2s and they were at 39 psi when we purchased it. I run my 37'' Ridge Grapplers at 31/30 cold, on the street. If I go above that the truck is all over the road. 18psi seems perfect offroad. I am familiar with the chalk test but just curious what most are running. I have the KO2s at 32 right now.

2. Do the hooks in the stock bumper hold soft shackles well when you need them? I use the clevis mounts on the TRX and I can imagine that the open hooks could slip if you lose tension on the rope.

3. Does anyone have a high pitch sound coming out of the AC when it is on high? It seems like a 50-60 hz sound and I am very sensitive to the frequency. I would turn it down if it wasn't for the fact that it's been 105-109 degrees here in Texas forever. This is a 2024 Wrangler Rubicon X.

I am sure I will have a lot more questions as we drive it more, especially when we actually get it on the trails.

just saw your " frequency" issue, what i would do, is remove the glovebox, remove the lower cover of the blower fan and see if there is anything in there, dust, rocks etc, if not, use a few pieces of sound deadening material on the outside of the blower fan cover, see if that will help reduce the frequency noise, im certain it will help lessen it .
