New Tire Confusion

Hey guys, after almost 25k miles my factory K02s are just about dead and I've decided to go with NITTO Trail Grappler MTs as my next set. My issue is whether to go with 285/75/17 E which are 34.09 inches tall so they would not rub at full flex or 35 x 11.5 C which are 34.76 inches tall and would rub a little at full flex. I'm leaning towards the pizza cutters because of the load range, but I'm not sure if it would make a huge difference. Advice?

I'm with sourdough and DOOKEY. Load range C to keep your teeth in place.

Not a big difference in dimensions between the two sizes, if load range is a concern I would agree with the above, lean towards the 35x11.50.

The 35 x 11.5

They are for all intents and purposes the same size. If one rubs hard at full flex, the other will hard minus just a smidge.

The larger tire projects out from the rim .33" more than the smaller tire. Not worth even thinking about.

The difference between E and C rated will be huge as far as comfort on-road.

I run a Toyo load range E in a 35”. Not a big deal to be honest on load range.

A 285 0r 11.50 hardly qualifies. This would be closer to the definition of a "pizza cutter". A 35" tire that will fit on a 6.5-7" wide wheel.

They're not completely gone- they just didn't wear evenly and have substantially less tread compared to the spare. It wouldn't bother me except in Ga. most of our trails are muddy and I've been waiting for a reason to switch to M/Ts.

I’m considering both of these sizes, as well. The oem rim is 17x7.5, so a 35x11.5 seems to be the solution. Also plan to switch from a load E to a C on the next set. I believe 285 and 11.5 is the threshold before the tires poke. If you rub, others have mentioned that just adding a washer to the steering stops will rectify the issue.
