Picked up these 3/8” plate steel diff covers from motobilt.com only $100 each. These things are insanely strong. We’re putting together a how to video and then a destruction video of the stock ones vs a motobilt one so we actually got 3 motobilt covers. 1 to try to destroy and 2 to actually use. You can see in the pics the difference in stock stamped steel vs the motobilt covers.

I can’t wait to see what it takes to destroy those new covers!

Nice! Have you damaged a stock diff cover? I saw a guy pound one with an 8lb sledge, but didn't cause much damage, or at least not enough to reach the ring gear. I was shocked at how strong the stock covers were. What I worry more about, though, is peeling one open at the lip, or shearing a bolt.

Yeah. My rear got caught and started to peel open. These motobilt ones are so cheap and it’s such an easy swap it’s not worth the risk. The gasket the jeep comes with is reusable and no RTV is needed.

Did you clearcoat them? I like the raw look but worry about surface rust.

Love it man. Very nice. Looks beefy. Painted red would be cool also.

Video of install and review.

Looking forward to the bullet proof test, cuz guns! Nice video.

Also, looking forward to you guys hitting the trails with these diff covers. Specifically interested in track bar clearance in full articulation. I just installed the same lift on my JLUR and I'm interested in these diff covers. So, you are my guine pigs. :like::jk:

Really digging this. I noticed in the video the tab you added for the electronic locker protection. Not on the Motobuilt website. Did you custom fab, or are they no longer offering that? Seems like a no brainer to have that. I have had lots of bad diff cover experiences over my life. Ha!

Would be nice if they made they out of stainless steel.
