I'v been lucky I guess, carrier and tailgate is solid, hung on it and yank just from the top of the tire and the entire jeep moves. No rattling no vibrations, I loctited every bolt pretty heavy.
Looks great mounted on the hood but how strong are the mounts if your in a front end collision on the highway, would that jack break free and fly through the windshield.
What type of steering issue are you talking about like when I turn the wheel left and the jeep turns left or when I turn wheel right the jeep turns right ?
How many of you drove your JL to pick up egg rolls lately, we never used to eat Chinese food but since buying the JL the algorithms in the onboard computer keep steering us to Chinese Takeout Restaurants.Anyone else noticing this besides the welds letting go on the frame ?
Finally mounted my spare using Smittybilt bracket , not a bad product mounted up rather easy. One thing that I had to do is cut the OEM tire carrier so the wire would fit back into the tail gate.Leaving the wire in the stock position makes it impossible to to get the wires and grommet back into...
Mall Crawlers usually get a bad rap but it takes alot more technical skill then driving lets say in the wide open Moab plus we have to deal with the Anti-Crawler Mall Security Guards with their flashing yellow roof lights.
Thats what I just did, Mopar bracket with the smittybilt riser bracket, 2 pcs under $600.00.Didn't really need the Mopar bracket for the 35" tire but I said what the hell throw it on there for a little more support.
Rethink the 35's especially if your going to lift. I have 35's with no lift and the tires look small, should of went with 37's but then after seeing 40's the 37's would look small. You won't be happy until you get Bridgestone 59/80R63 V-Steel E-Lug
You should get a Volvo V90 Cross Country it has 8.3" of ground clearance, Jeeps are for people with a screw loose and I don't mean the one holding the frame rails together.
Quadratec Fall Catalog is advertising the Smittybilt SRC HD Pivot Tire Carrier for the JL Jeep.
Email from Smittybilt for that tire carrier today when it would be available:
Hello,
Roughly 90-120 days out. Please check back periodically for any updates.
Thank you,
Smittybilt Customer...
Doesn't look like its listed yet on DV8 website under the JL parts,I would think it would be advertised on their website before Quadratec's website as available.
