Time for some new brakes soon. What have you replaced with/upgraded to? What was good, what was not? Any tricks to swapping out the pads?

Current brakes (original to the Jeep actually), are feeling like it's time. No grinding, but that will happen soon, I'm sure.

Open to any recommendations of what has worked well for you; I generally go with AutoZone on consumables like this. Wondering if anyone has an opinion on their Elite v Gold.

I've got about 93k on my 2019 JLUR. 37s, an LOD bumper up front with a winch, and the Giant LOD tire carrier/gas cans/Basket in the back. So...extra weight. Occasional towing (once or twice a year).

I've done plenty of brake jobs, but open to any thoughts/suggestions/ideas/recommendations.

They are a good middle ground pad between performance, noise, wear, dust, etc.

I'd change rotors as well. Centric rotors are my favorite, but Brembo, Bosch, Mopar, Raybestos, and a few others are good

Brake job is super straight forward, no tricks.

BRY - base Sport and Sport S
BR2 - Right hand drive(RHD)

BR6 - Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and all w/Eco Diesel option

BRY (13” diameter, 0 .945” thick front rotor, 13” solid rear rotor)

I installed the PowerStop Z36 kit on my 2018 JLUR about 5 years ago, and the pads still look great.

I've put these on 2 JL's, an Expedition, and an F-150, all with great results. The thing I like most about them is the lack of brake dust.

Make sure you bed the pads according to the instructions in the kit.

93k miles out of the stock parts. If you are happy with their performance, why not put OEM parts on?

I'm at 76k miles and not far away myself. Will probably go with the Hawk LTS pads. I've had very good luck with them on my old FJ80, but they did wear quickly (so did the stock pads, they were pretty small in area). As for rotors, I find the cheapest coated rotors on Rockauto. Got to worry about rust around these parts.

i'm definitely not impressed by the stock brakes, and will be looking for more aggressive pads in the near future; something with a higher Friction Code than stock. will likely do rotors at the same time.

i don't care about dust (it's an off-highway vehicle after all) or wear; the factory pads have lasted so long because they're too hard already. i'm more interested in the performance for dodging the idiots cutting across our bow on the public highways, and long descents coming down the mountains.
rust isn't really an issue here, especially since it gets ground off the first time the brakes are applied on a drive.

EBC is high on my list of prospective replacements as i've had good luck with them in the past on cars/J**ps/motos, but i hear good things about Hawk as well. i have Powerstop pads and rotors on one of the J**ps, and find it acceptable, but not at all impressive.
the only question i have left is really about how any of the different flavors of EBCs work at low rock-crawling speeds; i don't need raceway performance at the expense of low speed performance (as when slipping off the backside of rocks because i haven't had a chance to warm them up enough).
