Unfortunately it doesn't really fit over the AEV diff covers. The shop had to grind away at it for at least half an hour before it fit.
I'm thinking of the same setup - AEV covers and NVM diff skids for my JLU. Do you remember what the shop had to grind down? What part of the covers or skids? Thanks bro.

Sorry, I assumed they were grinding down the skid and not the diff cover, but I didn't ask.

As of now, it’s designed for the M220.

at $389 I’m not sure how much I’d trust a 4mm stamped steel plate out on the trail.
Interesting idea for design but I could see that front element getting bashed up and into the driveshaft/cv connection point.
Anybody know why AEV doesn't sell a front differential skid plate? They sell a rear and sell front for multiple other vehicles, but not the Wrangler. Seems that one would be pretty important and would eliminate the need to find an alternate skid manu for those with AEV diff covers.

anyone mount the Rough Country 10628 with an aftermarket diff cover?
It doesn't look like a clean fit. I do have my OEM cover to go back on if needed.

Anyone used this diff skid long enough now and taken some hits?

Bouncing between this and the Next Venture skid. yes, I would agree the NVM is more durable but not sure that i need "more durable"...just durable. Both provide coverage for the pinion which i'm after.

I run rocky 4, 5, and 6 trails. Rubicon 4xe on 315/70/17 K02s. Staying at this height so maximum clearance is important. Haven't touched my diff yet on the rocks but i go solo almost every time.

Having just a little bit of protection for the diff would make me feel a lot better just in case i take a bad line.

The AEV gives better clearance but the NVM is probably the elite choice.

Not sliding over rocks...just need it to take that one hit just in case it ever happens. Same reason i have the ASFIR engine skid and not a heavy duty steel one.

Also, there's a front AEV diff skid now. Same design.

I’ve had the AEV rear differential skid and have taken some hits at Big Bear. Left a dent and some scrape marks but it did its job and protected the differential.

couple of pictures: I’ve circled the dent. Can’t see it well in the picture though. I like that it also protects part of the drive shaft. Can remove it to drain diff. fluid. I have a 2021 that has a drain plug.

The AEV front differential cover is unfortunately not compatible with the 392s.

If you have the AEV diff covers then it's extremely painful to mount the NVM diff skids over them. I eventually took it to a shop, where they spent quite a bit of time grinding to make it all fit.

Looks like it did its job. Lots of people arguing that the 4mm stamped steel isn't good for anything, but the actual examples of hits i've seen - including yours - show otherwise. For those of us that aren't intentionally rock sliding with full underbodies, I think this is looking like a good option and offers more protection for the pinion rather than just the underside of the diff alone.

Thanks for the pictures.

I saw that. Not looking for that headache for sure. Initially i was just intending to do skids on the stock diff to make myself feel better about solo runs around large rocks, but the AEV cover is pretty good looking and probably has some benefit considering that I have 470 ft/lb of instant torque on tap. Realistically though the biggest benefit if paired with the skid is probably just the oversized fill port up top to make things easier.

I do really like NVM products. I have several parts and everything is extremely well built. Welds are amazing.

mine is going on 2 years with lots of wheeling and 4 different trips to Moab. it fits up so tight it does not have much effect on ground clearance and combined with the fact that it fits up tight that gives it strength as it is using the pumpkin itself for support. my buddy @Panhead5 has the NV and his hangs down a bit further and would scrape in places mine didn't his is heavy duty tho and no doubt can take a hit from a bunker buster bomb. Same with my buddy who has the RC one. ultimately I put it in the category of it is something that I feel good about the purchase of and would repeat the purchase if mine were stolen.....it for sure would be removed and put on my next jeep.

Just pulled the trigger on AEV front and rear diff skids for 24' JLU Rubi X. Ouch, that price. Buy once, cry once. Thanks for the review.
