Just order it. When I ordered my '22 in the winter of '21 I followed the forums as people freaked out about ordering banks being open when the plant was shut down, work stoppages, parts availability ... and y'know what? The truck was built just fine, shipped just fine, arrived just fine.

There are so many variables you can't control. Just order it and enjoy the wait.

Anyone else nervous to order a 2024 with the possibility of a UAW strike...I would hate to order now and have my Jeep being built and then get halted in the middle of a build only to come back in a few weeks/months when the strike is over and the workers forgetting which bolts are still left to install....

On a more serious note! My 2010 4 door Rubicon JK was unfortunately totaled a few months back. Had less than 100K miles and still was in GREAT condition. My previous Jeep before that was a 2002 TJ. I am now going through all the options on the new JL's and feel that the 4XE would be perfect for me as my daily commute is only 12 miles roundtrip.

Wish Jeep would allow some more customization in the ordering. I want another Rubicon but would like to get the leather seats with the non matching fenders and hardtop. Looks the Rubicon X adds all the options and even quiets the cabin a little more with a hardtop headliner and some acoustic glass so that is something for me to consider as well.

These new Jeeps look like a big step up from the JK's so really excited to drive one! This forum has been a great help with understanding all the options so thanks to you all.
If the leather seats and non matching fenders are a deal breaker, you can order a normal Rubi, build it up with the packages and top you want, and then just get the seats from Katzkin. High quality with many options!

I also ordered despite the pending strike. If it happens it happens. If I didn't order it'd never happen.

My biggest fears are worker fatigue if they're being forced to work extra hours ahead of a strike or going over 180 days and having to fight with my state over tax credits due to the sale of my previous vehicle.

IMO I would just shop lots nationwide. There's so many damn jeeps out there - I'm sure a handful exist that are nearly identical to your desires. Find 4-5 units specced how you like them, email the dealer with an offer slightly under invoice and deal with the ones that are willing to play ball. Ignore the rest, buy a one way ticket to wherever it is and enjoy a road trip in your new rig. Will be ~4 months faster too.

At least do the legwork and see before you lock in the order - it may be that you don't find a 24 the way you like it, but when I was lot shopping for my 2019 JLR in late 2019 there were tons to pick from that matched my needs on a nationwide search and quite a few dealers willing to play ball at prices that made sense. Only thing I missed out on was heated seats, but if I had ordered I'd have missed out on having the Jeep during a critical time in my life (as well as peak covid time) that really defined my ability to explore the west coast backcountry and see the country with a best buddy of mine who also had just gotten a JL before he moved away.

Lastly - I wouldn't worry too too much about missing some small packages. You can add the mopar (or third party) hardtop headliner very easily later - it's just some stick on fabric - and I doubt the acoustic glass would be a dealbreaker if you drove a stock one side by side. This is a bit more down the rabbit hole but you'd absolutely find someone willing to trade your painted fenders for black ones later on too. Two bolts and some clips to get each corner off. If you were configuring an Audi RS4 or something I get the desire to get it exactly right from the factory but Jeeps are so modular and lego-like, most of this stuff is just a matter of an hour or two in the driveway.

I'm probably wrong, but with the interest rates high, and inflation, for the first time in a long time I see tons of new jeeps on the dealer lots here. Normally, jeeps don't get many incentives, but I feel like we are going to see some "deals" in the near future with the sales reports coming out.

Probably more so with Ram trucks, but I wouldn't be surprised to see discounts and incentives on wranglers if things continue. Personally I'm waiting, but like I said, I could totally be wrong on this.

I hope they keep the two door for 2025. Waiting about a year before ordering. Maybe we will get good deals.

Quoting myself here to say if you haven't watched the assembly videos that have posted in another thread, I'm much more optimistic about the build process. So much of it depends on automated processes, sequencing, etc that even with worker fatigue there are a lot of controls in place to make sure everything is right - down to tools that allegedly log the torque applied to every bolt and inventory systems that insure every one of those pieces is used in the build.

Sure, there are things that likely slip through - no system is perfect, but they've certainly put a lot of thought into into minimizing all of those variables.

I still have to watch the video...worked at GM once manufacturing as an intern...would be interesting to see this process.
