Mystery LED and button

I have looked through every page of my owner's manual, searched the web and searched these forums, but I can't figure out what this LED and button assembly is for. It is mounted in the driver side lower dash. I have not tried pushing the button while the vehicle is on yet. See the image. Ignore the wire you can see behind it. That's just my antenna cable.

Do any of you have this?

It's a cheap aftermarket alarm system made by KARR.

Good question. I ordered this.

I just reviewed the original window sticker and as it turns out it DOES list a "Sentry Key" theft deterrent system that I had never noticed before, as part of standard equipment.

Edit: It looks like that is just the normal security built into the key/ignition system and not related to the little button down below.

Not standard from the factory. Must be "standard" from the dealer.

Before removing, I would check your paperwork/loan docs to ensure you didnt "agree" to keep it on until the loan is paid off. Otherwise, kill it with fire.

No loan. And I edited my previous post when I realized that was not part of the standard equipment. I may indeed end up "killing it with fire" at some point.

Sentry Key is tech talk for needing the programmed key fob in order for the push button to start the vehicle. All the FCA vehicles advertise Sentry key as a theft deterrent feature.

That thing screwed to your dash is something else and I’d be asking the dealer to explain why it’s there. As I stated all the rest of us have Sentry Key on our wranglers and dont have that gizmo screwed to the dash.

I killed it with fire, 3rd party security system is now disabled.

Tell the dealer you want your damaged factory wiring harness repaired. I can all but guarantee that scotch locks were used for the install.

My dealer tried to do that with me. I told them I didn't order it, I'm not paying for it, and made them remove it. In your case, I would make them replace the plastic panel as well.
