Sitting in the parking lot waiting for my wife to pick up some groceries. I was playing with some of the bells and whistles on the new JL. I adjusted the steering wheel up and down and then remembered that it could also be adjusted in and out. When I pulled it out I heard something fall and hit the mat. It was a strange wire. Looks to be pinched/cut on one end and the other end looks like a connector you would see on a nine volt battery. I cannot see anywhere it could have come from. Any clues?

That's the connector for the 3rd battery. You really messed up your JL brother, sucks to be you.

I've signed too many NDS to say anything and not even sure I can say that :lipssealed:

On the serious side - does anyone have any realistic idea what that may have been?

It looks like a segment of rear defroster wire.

Could be speaker or microphone wire, but haven’t seen it before this.

Hmmmm - I know the phone blue tooth works but I haven't tried any of the UConnect voice activation yet. Guess I should test it tomorrow. At the same time I'll test all the speakers by adjusting the balance/fade.

Test all the features of the steering cluster as well. It could have happened at factory and was already fixed though.

Do you have the advanced safety package? Could be one of the front defroster wires, kinda looks like it.

If you do have advanced safety package, look on the inside of the front windshield along the top, right next to the big box that is behind the mirror. There should be 2 wires there attached to the windshield.

Just brainstorming, but do you have a heated steering wheel (Cold Weather Package)? If so, does it work? Could be a connector for that.

You could always take it to the dealership to see what they say.
